A Change Of Plan · 11:37pm Mar 17th, 2017
Well, not much of a change really, but an important one. I've taken forever on this chapter because I've had so little time to work on the story as a whole. I've been writing in little bursts between bits of work, but due to the length of the chapter I'd planned, it's taken forever to get close to finished writing like this. Because of the length of time between some of these writing periods, the chapter has basically sat untouched for weeks while I dealt with other things, which is leading me to make a switch in chapter length.
I'm making a switch back to shorter chapters, say between 1500-2500 words, rather than the 3500-4500 chapters we've had more recently. I'll be able to update far more quickly than with chapters of the length I'd been trying to write, and not just because I need to write fewer words before it's done. I've been working in bursts separated by big chunks of time, so the longer a chapter is, the more bursts it needs to finish and the more time is spent with the chapter pushed to the side. Naturally, that means that a shorter chapter will take much less time from start to finish, since fewer delays can crop up between bursts of writing before it's done and finished. Of course (except through the less daunting nature of shorter chapters) this won't increase the output of words I write, per se, but it will increase the frequency of updates and let me keep things on a more regular schedule, which I'm sure you'll agree is a good thing.
As far as next chapter goes, I've got a little more to add to the end, then a bit of editing to do, but after that I'll be able to upload it. I've shortened its length from the original by moving planned sections to next chapter, so when it's all done it'll fit right into the new chapter length. Barring any unforeseen delays, I should have this one done within a week or so.
Thanks for bearing with me, and I look forward to bringing you something new soon. As always, I'll reply to any comments you post, so if you have questions or anything to say, go right ahead and I'll be in touch ASAP.
Thanks again.
Hey, I prefer quality over quantity so I'm all for it.
