Good New Everyone! · 5:52pm Mar 7th, 2017

Thanks to my friend/follower Georg I called MY insurance this morning and told them about the giant number State Farm said I needed to pay. According to my agent I should simply ignore any correspondence from them. They are fishing and trying to intimidate me into paying. In fact they haven't even contacted my insurance on a final settlement even though the letter stated they did. I feel soooo much better and soooo relieved!

BTW I have Geico for insurance and they are VERY nice and super understanding!

Wait wait wait,, ask your insurance for a letter stating that they never contacted them. Depending on your country you now have the grounds to win a ton of money from them if your harass you again.

Get allot of documentation and maybe contact a lawyer that will chat with you for free.

Oh and gratz!!!!!!

I'll probably do that. And thanks! It's a huge load off my mind!

Said it before, and going to say it again. State Farm has the reputation it has because it earned it, one unpaid claim and one lost check at a time until the present mountain that they sit upon. GEICO is good, American Family (mine) is darned good too. State Farm is a lot like the insurance company that Mr. Incredible worked for.

The other party's State Farm representative contacted you because *some* people can be pushed and shoved into mailing them a check, at which point that money is gone, never to come back even if you were perfectly in the right. Your insurance company is YOURS, much like your own personal lawyer. Much like lawyers, talking with the opposing party's representative without going through yours is a mistake. Worse, the opposing party will tape record the conversation, so they can talk to your insurance company later and say "Well, Bob said the accident was his responsibility when we called him, and we have that on tape, so if we go to court, we'll use that as evidence."

Only talk to your own lawyers (agents)
Never talk to theirs.
Important for insurance, and many other times in life.

I hate people sometimes. -_-

I freaking hate State Farm. A couple years ago we had them for car insurance, and they were complete a:yay:holes to us. At first they told us that we had actually been paying extra for a while and that we had enough credit to pay for the next 3 months. Got it in writing, it was all in the computer, and we were ecstatic because of how tight money was. Not to mention it's crazy expensive. 3 months later we get a letter from them saying that their canceling our service because we haven't paid the bill. So we go down there, and they looked in the computer and told us they have no record of us having a credit, and that we owed them almost 600$, witch is more then the actually bill was, because of added late fees. The paper wasn't "valid" because it didn't have the State Farm stamp on it. So after fighting with them for a while, we just completely canceled our service with them, and switched to Alstate. They are amazing, and our insurance is almost half the price then what we were paying. So next we get a letter from the DMV, because we didn't have car insurance for 3 months. So we were charged a little over 500$ for the ticket, otherwise our car would get repossessed to avoid my father from going to jail. After dealing with that, and over 800$ later that we had to magically come up with in less than a month, we start getting harassed my State Farm. They wanted us to reinstate our insurance with them, and because we had been with them for a while they would take a whole 20$ off our bill. :facehoof: They are a scam who only cares about money. If they could find a way to get it from you, they will do everything in their power too. To this day, we still get a call from debt collectors for that 600$ that we are refusing to pay.

Nice to hear, Foals. Sounds like a bunch of jackass vultures.

Good to hear, Foals. Like others here, I had problems with State Farm in the past and dropped them.

I'd follow up on Tofu's suggestion and get documentation on everything and keep any they send to you. If they continue to contact you or begin to harass or threaten you, gat a lawyer and check your options.

Like a dick neighbor, State Farm won't care.

Jingle.

Agreed, never talk to the enemy insurance co. directly. Also, while it depends on the state in the USA, there is sometimes a statue of limitations on auto insurance claims - if they're not settled or a legal case started within a specified timeframe, they may lose their rights - and it's worth asking your agent if that may be true in your case.

Yay! Phew. Glad you got that sorted out.

... *discreetly unloads shotgun* >_>
