Questions about Worldbuilding... · 11:39pm Feb 14th, 2017
You ever find yourself starting a story, and then start getting about a thousand ideas for worldbuilding on that story, to the point where you forget you were actually working on said story?
I am the Storm Scribe. Let my words thunder across all creation! Let my imagination rain down and bring life to new worlds and adventures. Above all else, may you enjoy what meager gifts I bring...

All the time.
All the Arceusdamn time.
You have no idea. I got on this site and wrote one story, next thing i know i've made an entire worldbuilding group dedicated to the universe it's set in, including things that may never come up in any story i write. I mean, can you imagine if i just explained that after the Pliocene, almost all the dinosaur species in Tapiri (basically South America) died out, but a group of notosuchids began filling the niches and eventually became creatures known as Retrosaurs? Unless i decided to devote a bonus chapter to the subject, it would just be clunky and unnecessary exposition to explain that no, the protagonists are NOT running from a scientifically inaccurate dinosaur, but a creature that LOOKS like a scientifically inaccurate dinosaur.
Then again, it's just fun, and also gives background stuff for people who want to set their stories in said universe
I've had to scratch out 3 or 4 paragraphs when I realized a Link-in-Equestria fic was taking too long to get to the pony. I wound up condensing 2 pages of text to "Hyrule was safe in the hands Zelda and Ganon"... Long story.
See, this is why I write fanfiction. BECAUSE THE WALLS ARE ALREADY THERE.
4422595 That's the issue, though. I'm getting ideas for worldbuilding on an AU fic I'm writing.

So you broke down a few walls and are rebuilding them. Totes cool.
Tell me about it.
I'm a history nut so I love the odd backstory or two.
I've got a whole binder full of sh*t that's purely world building, for over 5 and their alternates.
Yes.
YES!!
i get wordbuilding ideas for everything!
