Review #48 - Thrown Abroad, Cruel Beauty, An Infinite Number of Pinkies · 11:18pm Jan 25th, 2017

Alright, so before I get to this review, I'm going to inform those who do not follow CoffeeBean of his new story, Love Thy Enemy

And now, for the review:

Thrown Abroad by Niaeruzu
Cruel Beauty by ObabScribbler
An Infinite Number of Pinkies by AugieDog

Thrown Abroad by Niaeruzu
(Comedy, Slice of Life)
A single changeling is blamed for making Chrysalis' plan to take over Equestria fail. He's banished and thrown out of the hive, ending up somewhere far away. Luckily, he ends up not too far from a certain well-known village, where he can feed to his heart's content. Needless to say, not everything goes according to plan.

Review
A Changeling gets thrown abroad by Chrysalis after being blamed for causing the failure at the wedding. Luckily, he lands near a little village where he is sure to get all the love he needs to survive. However, all of the times he finds love to feed on, there is something that stops him from stealing it. So, he dons a cloak and sunglasses to hide until he can find a food source. He ends up meeting all of the Elements of Harmony through various methods, and they are rather suspicious of him. The Elements, unbeknownst to the Changeling, devise a series of tests to discover if he is truly a Changeling or not. Most of which fail, but they discover him anyway. They all explain what's up, and he is accepted into their community. He then defends it from a different changeling.

The pacing on this one is great, and i should probably read the sequels. It has few errors within the text, which is quite nice. And it seems rather planned out, but also with a bit of comedic filler. The tags it has works, but I would have added a "Drama" to it.

Score: 9/10 Recommendation: Recommended.

Personal Thoughts: I should really get to reading those sequels.

Cruel Beauty by ObalScribbler
(Tragedy)
Deep in the catacombs beneath the Crystal Castle, Cadence and Shining Armour discover something that brings Luna running. When the moon fails the rise, Celestia follows to investigate.

Review
Celestia travels to the Crystal Empire to see why Luna is camping in the Catacombs. The reason, as Celestia discovers, is that the old lover of Luna is/ has been down there ever since Sombra turned him into crystal.

Pacing for this one is alright, but it seems slightly shorter than it should be. It does, however, have very few errors, though the few it does have are slightly annoying. It also seems not very planned out, as if the second half was written as it came. The tag works, but again, I would have added a "Drama," and maybe even a "Sad."

Score: 5/10 Recommendation: Not Recommended/ Intermediate.

Personal Thoughts: Though I guess it was an alright idea, the execution of said idea into this story was not the greatest.

An Infinite Number of Pinkies by AugieDog
(Adventure, Alternate Universe)
Yes, the black and white pegasus who steps out of the glowing mirror seems very nice, but Pinkie's twitches tell her that this is her evil twin. And when Pinkie makes her own journey through the mirror to meet even more Pinkies and even more Pies, well, that just means more fun! Doesn't it?

Review
Pinkie Pie gets a visit from a pegasus named Thagoras Pi, who, after learning Pinkie's name, quickly scrambles back through the mirror from whence she came. Pinkie Pie decides to go after her, but ends up in a place between dimensions, a Wood Between the Worlds if you will, where she meets Pinkie Prime, the "mother" of all Pinkies. Pinkie Prime claims she wants to gather all the Pinkies so she can have a party, and she needs Pinkie Pie to gather guests. Next come the tales of Pinkie gathering people. Pinkie Pie soon learns that Pinkie Prime wants to destroy all the Pinkies, because she is bored. Pinkie Pie and Company eventually convince her to just go to another universe and start over there.

The pacing on one this is alright, but it does get to feel VERY long after a couple chapters, so don't expect to read it all in one day comfortably. The errors, "What errors?" you ask, well, pretty much. It also seems extremely planned out, which is nice in it's own respect. And the tags work well too.

Score: 7/10 Recommendation: Worth Reading.

Personal Thoughts: Great story, great execution, just long chapters really.
