To the readers of Hippogriff — Been a while, eh? As usual, I was bamboozled by myself, and I should have known better. Instead of doing any writing from late-December to about a week ago, I chose to squander spend time with my son who was home on break. We watched MLP and anime and a few not-too-old cartoon series. It was fun, but tiring as we stayed up way too late most nights. This is his final year of undergrad, so I don't know where he'll be next year. A father certainly hopes "employed" will be his destination.

Regardless, once I got back to a more normal schedule, I powered through chapter six quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly, but I had a hard deadline, which brings me to the second point of discussion.

Tomorrow morning I go in early, and not at all bright in any sense of the word, to the hospital. I am having my hip replaced, and while the immediate pain will be great, I have great hopes for future pain reduction. And increased safety. And mobility. And not walking around like I'm thirty years older than I already am.

I've never been to the hospital like this before. Things are very, very strange, yet they are less strange than when my doctor and I agreed on a date. At that time, I felt entirely lost. Now, things feel a bit off kilter, but not quite as strange as it did a while ago. We'll see how badly I freak out tomorrow morning. :unsuresweetie:

Now, what does this mean for my writing in let us say the next six weeks? I will be house bound for the majority of this time. Actually, I'll be limited mostly to a couple of rooms on the second floor while I'm working during the day. My non-work computer is on the floor, which I should able to get to in the evenings. However, should I not be able to, I made sure I can VNC in. Squashed that excuse.

So, I'm not going to be doing much in the evenings, not that I ever did, and even less on the weekends, that is, besides my PT. Pretty much I plan to spend leisure time on movies, reading, and writing.

If I'm not too narc'd up, I think I'll have few excuses for not working on the next two chapters of Hippogriff. There are only two chapters left, not including the epilogue—we can't forget about the storyteller and his drunken queen can we?

The next chapter needs revision and expansion. The final chapter is, perhaps, 40% written, and still in a first draft state. For its unwritten pieces, I've got lots of fragments and notes.

Other than that (that‽) not much news beside the house continuing to fill with pony toys. And while I'm laid up, I'll keep plugging at the writing.

Thanks for sticking with me.

PS: If all goes well, I should be in good shape by summer. My attendance at TrotCon is pretty much a given. I am undecided about Bronycon. If any of you do attend, I'd love to meet you and buy you a legal beverage of your choice.

You take care, good friend! I have a feeling you'll come through just fine. And I'll see you at BronyCon. I never miss a chance at free beer!:raritywink: Stay safe and good luck! You'll be in our thoughts!

Hope the procedure goes well and fixes your hip mobility issues.

I very much hope you're back up and running soon!

Best of luck today!

Thanks all for your support. Not to jinx anything, but the surgery went well and recovery is progessing. All would be well if my blood pressure would get back up to normal levels so the nursing staff would stop frowning.

The surgeon said the joint was sans cartilidge and a groove had worn in the femoral head. As for why they left leg felt a tad longer than the right, the femor was being pushed away as the body attempts to "fix" the situation.

With luck I can expect a discharge on Friday.

Happy to hear all went well! Sometimes the anesthetics can cause one's blood pressure to drop but it ought to return to normal. You take care and good luck!
