The Girls Are Back In Town · 6:07am Dec 26th, 2016

Well, girls plus Hooves

IT'S HAPPENING!

After two long years of serious outline deliberation, failed jump-start attempts, and general uncertainty, I'm proud to say that the sequel to Ponies Protecting Ponies is about to arrive! The story is complete and has had its very first review thanks to the magnanimous Flutterpriest, who had very encouraging things to say about it. I'm hoping that, with a little editing, I can have the first few chapters out to you guys before the end of the year!

Real quick though, I do want to take a step back and talk to you guys about a few things. I actually broke ground on making this story not long at all after the first story, completing 80-90% of the story's eventual outline in December of 2014. Unfortunately, with how popular the original story got, it also got the attention of some very critical eyes. One in ten readers did not like the story, many citing the ending as an incredibly deterring flaw. I won't lie: it hurt. It hurt to have so many strangers tear my story apart. To have some very valid points that I struggled to argue against. Although it didn't stop me from writing, it lead to me growing less and less interactive with the comment sections on all my stories. I had grand ambitions for the Ponies Protecting Ponies universe, and some not willing to follow me down that rabbit hole was extremely discouraging. The outline I had just never felt good enough. Perhaps this was my own fault. After all, the original was supposed to be a parody. Something where you'd rewatch an episode later think, "Heh, yeah, that would almost be possible," and I think I wound up taking it too seriously. I should have expected others to do the same.

That said.

While one in ten were vocal about disliking the original story, nine in ten of you still enjoyed it, and those are the voices I should have been listening to. I absolutely loved writing those characters, and getting back into their heads for this new story was like a visit from old friends. I never lost hope on the story. Many times I'd add a snippet here and there to the outline, and twice I tried and failed to start writing it. However, just a few weeks ago I finally got the one last burst of inspiration I needed to make the story work for me. One little tweak that fixed everything. One change that gave me exactly what I needed to hash out thirty thousand words in a matter of days. The saga continues! For those of you who haven't read the original story in a while, I humbly suggest giving it another go-over before its sequel gets its release; there are some plot threads I planted that I think sprouted quite nicely.

This new story takes place a couple months later at the next big event in Equestria's history. I thought long and hard about the episodic route discussed in an earlier blog, but decided that this was the best choice to keep the story going. That said, I do have a list of ideas of one-shots I could still do. Silly little stories to show some character moments and/or explore the history of our agents. I think you guys would be surprised at just how many details have yet to show up in either of these stories. Let me know if this is something that interests you guys. After all, I'm not doing sequels and spin-offs to try and attract new followers. I'm doing it for you! And, perhaps just as importantly, I'm doing it for me.

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season, and will join me looking forward into 2017!

Wicked. Fucking. Awesome!

(And not just saying that, either. I followed you because of "P3" and have been idly hoping a sequel ever since.)

4356077 You're not alone there! I wish there was a metric to show me where each follower came from. That way I could apologize to each one of you directly for the wait :P Happy to have you on board!

Huzzah! The PPP will be doubled!

I need to reread it again, it's been... years? :rainbowhuh:

Dr. Hooves seems to take no offense at being one of the girls, he seems... cheery about it. :trollestia:

4356557 Yup, two whole years. Where does the time go?

Hooves lives in a world all his own :moustache:
