The Main Event · 2:39pm Nov 20th, 2016
Saturday 19th November
The main event was upon me and started at 7 o clock when I started to get myself together and have breakfast. About 0830 I started trip to the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor and first thing that hit me was how cold it was. After going back to my room to get my coat I arrived at the Hilton just after 9. Regertaion was simple and early and after that I went around the vendor hall until 10.
10 o clock in the main hall we had to the opening ceremony where we held a minute silence for a member of the fandom who had passed away. After that the show started and we was shown a video about BronyScot and given a outline of the events. After that it was back to the vendor hall to spend some money and pick up my Con badge commission.
After airing my wallet I made my way back to the main hall for the Fall Out Equestria panel as I knew little about it. Once that was done I made my way to the Botanic suit where I was in time to shout 'Stay Creative ' at the end of Mad Munchkin's panel. Afterwards there was a chat with some of the musicians from the fandom inculing Sketchy Sounds and Eile Monty. After that I had a look at the Cosplay in the main hall before taking a break for food. Outside there were a number of food places and more importantly cash points.
Returing back to the fun I was in time for a panel on animation by CapainHoers where we got to see his famous Spitfire's day off video. Now the real big event came soon after where we had a live Skype call with M.A Larson were he shared his thoughts and troll us in the Larson way. That was brought to a end by technical difficulties and set us up nicely for the auction. Ater bidding on a few things I waited for pushie of the con mascot Nessie to come up and I went all gun blazing and ended up paying £150 for it. A lot I know but as everything was going to the Scottish Association for Mental health I didn't mind. After that I went to get a drink from the bar and relax for a bit before Karaoke started at 8.15. I always enjoy karaoke as I always join it with the crowd to sing but this time I even went up and sung Giddy up.
But alas all good things come to an end and at 10pm we had the closing ceremony where we all stood up and clapped for the chairman an the team and was played out by someone on bagpipes.
After saying goodbye to a few people I meet though the day I made my way back to my hotel with a smile on my face, a song in my hart and a bag full of stuff.
Overall I would recommend Bronyscot to anyone as it was an awesome con and the team put their hart in to it so a BIG thanks to them. As it's a one day con and panels over lap you will have to plan what ones you want to see.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses Fimfiction as a place for convention blogs! ;)
This is a great account of Bronyscot, I really enjoyed reading it :). Having never been myself, it's an interesting insight. If you end up doing more of these for UK Ponycon I'd certainly like to see that.
