I am here to sharpen my writing skills. My objective with each of my stories is to create a narrative that dovetails with the show as seamlessly as possible.

Working on Sequel to Spot That Changeling and something else.

So, after poring over the responses you guys gave me, I did some serious thinking about the nature of board game-based fanfiction. Should I write a sequel to Spot That Changeling?

I'll be honest, I never imagined Spot That Changeling would reach the audience that it has. I hardly put any effort into that story at all, I just started typing, and let the story sort of flow naturally to wherever it seemed to want to go. And it clearly struck a chord with quite a few people. Don't get me wrong, I'm honored and flabbergasted that you guys enjoy my overactive imagination as

Working on Sequel to Spot That Changeling and something else. · 9:02pm Nov 16th, 2016

So, after poring over the responses you guys gave me, I did some serious thinking about the nature of board game-based fanfiction. At first, I was considering leaving Spot That Changeling alone and moving on to a new project, about a different board game. But when I completed the first chapter of my new project, I could help but realize it was extremely difficult to follow. Not because I wrote it poorly, but because of the nature of board games in general.

You see, half the reason board games have game boards is that the often present the player with a lot of information to keep track of, and it's much easier to present that information visually, with tangible pieces that can be moved from place to place on a clearly marked and thoroughly labeled map. While it is possible to convey the complex patterns that appear on the board (as well as the game-relevant meanings of each) using text alone, it's a challenge for the reader to follow. Illustrations of the game in progress are essential for ease of understanding. But Spot That Changeling is different. Spot That Changeling is a game where there is no board to update, no pieces to manage, and the only "moves" are simple statements made by the players. This makes the game much easier to follow when presented in text format, which is a clear advantage.

With this in mind, I have decided I will be posting a sequel to Spot That Changeling. But not right away. I want to be able to update it at the same rate I did last time, one chapter per day. However, the sequel will involve more players, so it's going to take a while to get each chapter written and ready for prime time. As of this post, I am about to finish Round 2. I can't say when I'll be posting the sequel, but I can let you in on some details about the cast. In the sequel, Thorax will be using the game as a way of extending an olive branch to other nations, starting with Equestria. He will be playing the game as an honest player, while an original character will be the infiltrator. Twilight will be returning to help the new players understand the game better. Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Shining Armor will be there, along with Starlight Glimmer, Trixie Lulamoon, and the klutzy draconequus himself, Discord. He'll be an honest player at first, but he might just become the moderator for the final bonus round. No, I don't yet know what that will entail.

And about that other story I started writing? I think I need to figure out how to add illustrations to my stories before I can post that one. And also how to create digital illustrations in the first place. If anyone out there can help me with that, I'd be very much obliged.
