So I'm sitting here on election night with this now nearly depleted bottle of Jack Daniels, wondering what the fuck is wrong with my country (yeah, not hard to guess my political persuasion). Just thought I'd mention that I'll do my best not to put a fucking bullet through my head, if for no other reason than that I'd like to actually finish Heart of Loyalty one day, and I consider it quite rude when authors up and die in the middle of incomplete projects. Still, fuck you America. Just...fuck you.

I really really don't though. I don't know if we're just going to nuke Brazil or what. I suppose the most likely result is impeachment proceedings within two months when Trump tries to do something ridiculously illegal, having no idea what presidents actually can and can't do, but considering we're looking at a Republican congress, I doubt they'll actually go forward with impeachment for anything short of increasing marginal tax rates on top earners (which is really something congress would be in control of instead of the president, but again, I'm fairly certain he has no clue what presidents actually do).
Yeah, that bottle of Jack Daniels is thoroughly depleted and I'm feeling a bit cynical.

Just throwing out the first country that came to mind. Like I wouldn't be that terribly surprised if he just spun a globe and decided to nuke wherever his finger landed (though in that case, it's a strong chance of it just being the ocean).

And yes, I'm intentionally being somewhat facetious here, but then again, I really can't say with 100% certainty that he wouldn't do something like that.
I have strong hopes that he'll screw up so badly that he'll quit or be impeached within the year.
This is the only reason I am now able to sleep at night.

The problem is that then we'd be stuck with Pence, and though he may appear more...stable on the outside, he's a sincere believer in the fundamentalist theocratic koolaid. And the rest of the Republicans actually like him. Trump will blunder around and break things like a bull in a china shop, but Pence will somewhat competently push for some truly nasty shit.
Well, technically, the IRS is still investigating him, and the Electoral college needs to actually cast their votes (as they don't do that right after the popular vote) and could challenge some of the states and invalidate votes. And congress does have to affirm him into office, both in the senate and house - and he's pissed off enough republicans as well as democrats that they might actually dig out that rule that lets them pick from the top three candidates to go for a third party candidate over either Trump or Hillary. Not likely for any of the options, but he still has some hurtles to pass if he wants in office, along with several things he's required to do as a business owner taking the office of the president that he's already trying to skirt around and avoid doing. There are a lot of ways he could be thrown out before he's even inaugurated, if we're lucky, and only one or two of those could give us Pence instead.
Good news from the future:
Due to persistent resistance against him and also due to the republican party's disunity it seems that Mr. Trump will not be able to enact many of the key dangerous policies that he claimed he would during his campaign!
So the country isnt sinking yet! Its just kinda treading water for four years! :D
