    Dramatic Reading plz?

So I know it's vain as hell, but i frequently go back and reread my own fics. With repeated exposure of the same text to my eyes no longer doing it for me, I crave stimulation for my ear holes. Way way back I got a couple readings of Pinkie Pie is an Eldritch Abomination and always found it weird that THAT was the one that got the attention. It's definitely a...rougher example of my work (I wrote

Finally Trying My Hand at Clop. Cover Art Needed

So, I caught wind of Dirty Little Secret's Dirty Little Contest and figured it was just the push I needed to try writing an actual clopfic. It will, of course, be an absolutely ridiculous comedy.

    I Started a Blog! (A real one)

So, after many years of people telling me I should do so, I've finally started a proper blog (only about 10 - 13 years late to the bandwagon). And yes, I mean an actual blog external to what you're reading on this site now. On Wordpress and everything.

It's called "Science, Politics, and Ponies". I hope the title is pretty self-explanatory. If not, it's a mix of three things.

I guess I can say I've Written Erotica Now?

Having grown very distressingly short on cash, I was just browsing through Upwork, looking for something that doesn't require a bunch of previously logged experience as a requirement and isn't buried in 50+ applications already. Eventually I came across this posting.

Weird Fic Idea That's Stuck in my Head.

So I've had this...odd idea for a small fic kicking around in my head for a while, and I may end up writing it soon if it keeps up. I imagine the only people who would enjoy it would be a very particular kind of fucked up, with most everyone else either just skipping it or downvoting it into oblivion.

Dramatic Reading plz? · 9:51am Sep 9th, 2020

It's definitely a...rougher example of my work (I wrote it in 2 hours procrastinating on a chapter of Then Tomorrow Came).

So yeah, if anyone ever felt like doing a dramatic reading of any of my stories, go for it. I've got an itch to hear what Just Thoughts sounds like, or maybe Substitute, but I'm not picky.

This concludes this incredibly self-absorbed request.

I'd love to do more pony readings, but when you're one guy, most stories featuring a mostly female cast lose something.

I always want to do readings but am never sure what would be good to read. So no guarantees but you might see something from me.

Yeah. I imagine that would be something of a challenge.

Thanks for reading. Sometimes I look back and am surprised I actually wrote all that. It took me forever before I managed to start thinking of myself as a writer. I was always a STEM guy who loathed any kind of writing assignment in school. I think that was because they were always forced into an overly restrictive template that was rarely suited to whatever thought I was trying to convey, or had an arbitrary minimum page limit that I'd always have to stretch to reach with useless padding because I could usually concisely communicate the relevant info and make my point in half the space. I found I enjoyed things much better once I had the leeway to structure things how I wanted, but still never thought of myself as a "writer". Even after I accepted that I had a knack for writing papers, essay, and the occasional scathing comment, it was a whole separate hurdle to try my hand at writing fiction. I felt like I had little clue what I was doing. Never taken any kind of creative writing course, but I read a lot, and decided to borrow the style elements I liked seeing and eventually discovered my own style and tone.

I'm even more surprised that I actually finished it given how often I'd disappear for like 10 months at a time. What usually made me come back to it was concern over the scenario of suddenly getting hit by a bus or something and then leaving it sitting there forever unfinished.

I was wondering why you said experiments plural, until I remembered Of Avians and Amorousness actually exists and would technically fall under that label. That was written for a roommate who jokingly requested I write an erotic ship fic featuring Elizabeak in exchange for watching more episodes of pony.

Sibling Supremacy at least started as an actual somewhat legitimate attempt rather than a joke, but somehow quickly devolved into mostly just a comedy.

Ah, I see what you mean. Heart of Loyalty had a lot of sexually charged bits that served the character tension but would pull a fade to black or scene transition before anything explicit. I could probably write decent clop with a similar long form, feels heavy shipfic without the discretion cut. That would probably take more than a one shot to properly set up though. I went with writing Siblings for that contest because a weird idea popped into my head and started accumulating details, so I ran with it. It's REALLY hard to decide an initial concept for a story from all the possibilities, so I don't turn away from that kind of mental momentum lightly. My alternate idea for the clop contest was a more serious kind of AppleDash spinoff from Heart of Loyalty, but that felt like skirting the rule of it being an original story and not just a bonus chapter of an existing one.

Huh, Ironically, I'm doing one of Eldrich Abomination now.
Maybe after that, I'll see what else interests me.
