Trying To Get This Finished · 2:50pm Oct 16th, 2016
I've just posted a blog post cancelling my other story, for the same reasons that have left Collapse Collide without updates or word from me for months. The balance of my life has changed dramatically, to the point where I am a lot more tired, with a lot less free time, than I was before this summer. Trying to get things in order has taken months, but I feel like I'm at a point where I can accurately plan for the future and think about more than getting some sanity back into my daily routine.
This brings me onto Collapse Collide and my other ex-story. I think I have the time and the energy to update something on this site, but trying to do two at once is going to be near-impossible now, so I had to choose one to drop. The other story was already a rewrite of a story I cancelled and never actually surfaced on the site, whereas Collapse Collide (despite its latest plot woes) has a clear path to being finished and a hell of a lot of on-site chapters. Naturally, I chose Collapse, and I look forward to bringing updates once I've gotten back into the swing of things.
I'm going to have to go through my notes and make a solid plan for the endgame of the story, but once that's done it should be plain sailing straight to the end of the story. I don't know how long it'll take to get it done, but I think it'll be less than a year, hopefully less than six months if I can get back into the swing of things the way I want to be. I'm not trying to rush the story to the end, mind you, I'm just trying to get a solid time estimate so that it's not forever up in the air about when it'll be completed. I think a reasonable target is to get it done in or under 9 months, so... July 2017 at the (hopefully) latest.
Until then, bear in mind that updates are likely to be fewer and further between, but I'll try to keep to a two-week schedule for consistency's sake. On a final note, if anyone has any ideas of how they think the story's climax will go, I'm all ears. Naturally, I have my own plans, but while I'm trying to get a solid picture of how it's all going to happen, some reader input would be more than welcome. As always, if you've got any questions, post them below and I'll reply ASAP.
Thanks for your patience.
Sadly, our lives are always a precarious balancing act in various aspects of our lives. Let us hope that you get some more free time soon, if not to work on your other story then at least improve the quality of the ongoing one.

Thanks. I don't think I'm going to end up with too much more free time than I currently do, but things are calming down and I've been able to get some order back into my life. Being a creature of habit, being able to get some kind of routine back is almost as helpful as having more time, so even if this is the extent of my free time for the forseeable future, it'll help my writing just having some kind of order again.
I wasn't enjoying writing my other story very much, and I didn't really know where it was going, so the lack of time was just the final straw, and I'm unlikely to go back to it. I may write something else, but I think it's best to keep to just Collapse right now. I enjoy writing Collapse, and I know where I'm going, so things should improve from here on out.
