Hey. Earth Galvanising here, giving you all a low down on what's to come in the next chapter of Clean the Slate. If I miss anything, feel free to comment questions on this post, and I'll reply to you all (unless the question has already been answered) presuming more than three people look at this, lmao. Anyways; here's the deal.
Chapter 10 marks the end of Quantum's infancy period. Chapter 11 will be the start of the 'School Arc'.
Now, while story related questions will be answered in the chapter itself, questions about my motive for the skip will be answered here. So first off;
Why? Because I'm ready to get things moving now. From Soft Reset all the way to the (soon-to-be released) Time Waits For Nopony, I've really been playing around with the characters a bit. I understand I need to develop a few more, namely, Bow and Cindy. Honestly, I've been wanting to skip since Chapter 7 Quantum's first birthday, but I figured I should at least follow through, add some development on the Time Mechanics, and skip on a nice round number. Plus, for what I have planned for Chapter 10? I feel it's a good a place as I'm gonna get to skip.
What about Quantum's previous lives? Won't we miss some of those? In terms of flashbacks? Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing those. As fun and as interesting as writing The Nameless First was, the Ancient Era lives are much of the same thing; orphaning, slavery, freedom, death. On the other hand, there will be some variations to that. For example, I'm planning something much later on in the story, that requires a form of inconsistency with the lives now, while Quantum is still in his infant stage. Trust me. You'll all love it. It isn't sad at all. I promise. ;^)
What about Twilight, then? Oh, Twilight? That's easy; she'll develop as Quantum's childhood friend, but still emerge into the Twilight from canon, just slightly warmer to other ponies. And what's this I hear of romance and shipping between her and Quantum? Hm, that's getting filed into the "things to tease" folder. (ya really should read the author's notes on chapter one, though :^))
What about the other alicorns, and Discord? Well, if we're speaking about Cadence, then you can guess to some extent what happens (Hint: Shining Armour). Celestia has more or less already been covered. She can't really, truly, do anything yet. I think I said before that Celestia is in a hella long waiting game right now, and so is Discord and so is Luna. There will still be passages when we see Luna and Discord in their imprisonment, and their thoughts closer to their release. Celestia, like normal, will have sections where I develop her character as a ruler, and as a pony waiting for some life to cut her some slack. That being said, the real question is; what about Chrysalis?
