Every Little Thing She Does Review and Spoilers · 4:10pm Sep 24th, 2016
Starlight Glimmer's Lesson Zero. One of my main complaints about Starlight was the fact she seemed too good at thing. Twilight showed an impressive growth for the first three seasons and we accept that. We know were she comes from and we enjoy when she succeds and we are sad when she screws up. Starlight didn't have that so it seemed a little "Mary Sue-Ish" and this episode was somewhat redeeming on this front. But not by much. First of all, we get it: She's a dork like Twilgiht was at the beginning except with much more magical power so it was nothing new that she would resort to magic to deal with simple things. Sure, her fear about screwing up was relatable but if there was one thing of the many I enjoyed from The Cutie Remark. The final montage of her hanging out with the girls, without words expect for the final song, was a perfect way of showing her bonding with the Mane Six. So, of course, we have to reverse that character development for the sake of drama. With painfully generic activities I'd have to add but the point was spending them with them to see what they loved (Although, Rainbow Dash chillaxes and that's it?) so I can let it slide. On the other hand, the comedy was good. It escalated quickly but without feeling forced, played well with the traits of the characters and exagerated them without missing a beat. Reference based humour makes a comeback and Applejack just gained a lot of best pony creds. While I don't like it completely, I can say to be reasonably satisfied with the episode but it feels painfully like filler, expecially with the upcoming Starlight focused finale which will address my problems with character development. Hopefully. See ya next week for Legend of The Everfree which I don't know I'm going to watch because, well, it coincides with my birthday.
