Two days ago, I discussed how Ponykind are capable of breeding with their close relatives. But what about those outside of equids. That is the subject of fan works as well, mainly of Rarity and Spike having children successfully. Unfortunately, I am going with the story element I have seen in the works by Harms Way (there may be others with this story element, I just haven’t found and read them yet): no matter what, pairings of completely separate species cannot produce children. Even Sunset Shimmer and the Dazzlings, who have adopted a human form for so long, are still equids by birth and cannot have children with a human father. This has however only produced more erotic, and sometimes bestial, fics.
I do, however, offer another solution: if not of natural processes, why not magical? This would be akin to how our current medical procedures are able to remove certain diseases from a gamete such as sickle cell. The two parents, having been consulted by the doctor, would schedule for a brief donation of their respective seed. Modifying as best they could to allow the traits to blend. The fertilized egg would then be injected into the mother to further increase chances of survival, provided she hasn’t ingested toxins or alcohol. The result is an individual that Sparity fans would certainly love.
But this method is still experimental: the offspring is unlikely to produce children of his or her own. Plus, it is also very cost prohibitive. As a whole, it costs an equal to forty thousand United States dollars just to get the egg fertilized. Fortunately, one person, like her sisters, has more than enough wealth to last her over sixty human lifetimes. In a possible future, determined by you, the fans, Aria Blaze (a Siren) and Thud (A Fast Biter) go through such a procedure. The result is Echo, the world’s first Dino-Pony. Personality’s the charm, she looks a little like her father and takes her behavior after her mother. Echo seems to be successful so far; she hasn’t displayed any problems as she enters High School.
