Character Concept Art for Original Novel

While I'm waiting for my second manuscript submission to go through, I thought I'd share some of the art I've had commissioned of the main character Katrina so far.

The first one is the original design done by my close friend Ambris. Due to elements of Katrina's backstory and heritage, I asked for a Conquistador theme for the overall appearance of the armor.

First Original Manuscript Sent to Publisher. Fingers Crossed

As the title suggests, I have recently sent a portion of a fully complete manuscript to a local publisher for my first original novel. The wait is approximately three months to hear a response. Hopefully in that time they'll request the full manuscript and offer a deal, since thats the dream, right?

    Quillery @ Babscon 2017

I'll be at Babscon 2017 in April this year. I will most likely be spending most of my time at Ambris' vendor table if anyone wants to say hi.

A poem (Because Poems are Cool) · 7:00pm Sep 13th, 2012

I woke up today
In the usual way
It was ten past six
In my bed I did lay.

My phone flashed red
beside my tired head
New mail had been sent
Waiting to be read

I opened the citation
Intent on its deletion
When I noticed its sender
And felt only elation

A letter from a fan
Who unveiled a special plan
A surprise was the title
I read it, phone in hand

It was a blog post, simply
I read them almost daily
But when I saw my name
What I saw surprised me

A few simple words
That echoed some chords
In my darkened heart
A gift I could scarcely afford

A simple gesture, hardly
An Idle nod, barely
A un-payable kindness
It was nothing less, Truly

As I lay there at the end of night
Wondering as I saw the morning light
I was relieved for the reminder
That I was doing something right

I am out of words here, at this bend
But do not think this is the end
I will repay your kindness, somehow, someway
But for now, I am glad that I can call you my friend

Because sometimes, when I am at a loss for words, my prose turns to poetry.

Thank you Loyal2Luna. I honestly don't know how I will every repay or adequately thank you for all your help.

Wow. This is really good, actually. (This is coming from a guy who isn't a big fan of poetry.) For some reason, I read this to the melody of Pinball Wizard. Fit surprisingly well, or at least not too badly.

Anyway, you should be at a loss for words more often.:raritywink:

Congratulations Quillery, you earned it. (though I think I've made that point enough times).

Though of course now you'll have to include poetry in Mane Effect, expectations are high...

I tend to avoid writing poetry, because most times it ends up being melancholy as sin, to the point that anyone that reads it with any emotional dissonance towards its subject matter bursts into tears, mostly my close relatives. Its a crime I try not to repeat to often. But poetry in Mane Effect? Hmm... Ashley was known to quote a lot of it, but would South be the same? /shrug :ajsmug:
