I need some assistance. If you, yes you dear reader, would read the following short piece (1200 words) and tell me if you find it funny or not, that would be fab. The piece is what is supposed to be the beginning of a novel I'm trying to write, and I'm currently trying to gauge the way in which to write it. (Other criticism is also welcomed.)
First off, I'm sorry, this post is going to be more useless drama, something the internet doesn't really need. So, if you fancy here's the TL;DR... I'm taking a break from writing.
No, it's not about character development.
No, it's not about plot.
And no, it's not about flowery prose.
It's actually all about the hot chocolate and the pack of marshmallows, and on colder nights maybe a good cider.

I rarely get a straight up 'writing mood'. But when I do it's because I just ate a good dinner, read a good fic and then I do something weird... no, not clop, I do that afterwards. I put on my headphones and lay on the couch, facing the ceiling, listen to music that would fit the mood of my story. Concentrate, Brainstorm, rest.
Have two windows open, an online thesaurus and microsoft word and then get myself to work!
But I always get the homework and gaming and other fun stuff out of my system first.

Well I don't normally get that much sleep anyways because I'm always waking up early every day, so I'l spend an hour max on the fic. But when it's the weekend...

you know, proof-reading. Unless you have people that do that for you. Check for plot holes, spelling errors, all that bad stuff and then correct it.

Depends on the piece. If it's experimental or jokey or just for fun, then I'd proofread it. If it was more serious then I'd get it reviewed on Ponychan's /fic/ board.
