So, yesterday's episode of My Little Pony was VERY interesting, in that we find out a bit more about Changelings from probably the ONLY friendly Changeling of the race.
Things learned:
-Changelings CAN create unique identities, as WELL as copy existing ponies.
-Changelings CAN transform into other species besides ponies, including bipedal forms. We don't know if they can get the capabilities of any of these other species though, i/e a Dragon's fire breath.
-Changelings CAN transform into inanimate objects like rocks.
-There IS a Changeling Kingdom, and they live in a hive.
-Changelings apparently DO NOT have a hive mind.
-Changelings hatch from eggs, and are born as grubs.
-Changelings may be able to draw love from enough excess energy, but generally they take it directly from a powerful source i/e ponies.
-Changelings MAY be able to feed off one another to survive, IF they're able to foster a love for each other, which they currently do not.
-Ponies currently don't have any way of being able to remove a changeling's disguise, or break their transformation.
So, yeah, interesting stuff. Neat to see which parts of fanon are now legit, and which are now officially non-canonical. I don't think I'd ever have changelings in my fiction, at least as friends (which now appears to be something unheard of until Thorax), but if I ever do write a story featuring them then I'll know a bit more about them to make the story more accurate.
