Space, made more intentionally blank.

Now that the contest is well over, I have revised this story, which I hope will better express my vague intentions as I was composing it. The original version has been preserved, along with its comments.

Writing at speed without much time for deliberation often lets your subconscious mind express interesting things that might otherwise have gone undiscovered, but you run the risk of either becoming incomprehensible to the reader, or being understood all too well by revealing more about your inner self than you wanted to make public. I am glad that I found nothing that I regretted having written in this story, and only felt the need to sharpen the ending a bit and change an adjective or two.
