it's normal to have that twinge that you should change your story to fit new canon, but it's best to ignore it. Canon shifts all the time, and if fanfic writers were expected to keep their stories up-to-date, they'd never get around to writing anything new.
Besides, Skyla is still Cadance's One True Daughter.
