Stranger than Fan Fiction Review and Spoilers · 4:10pm Jul 30th, 2016
In which we find a Daring Do episode that Damocles23 likes. Let us start with the obvious and talk about how Quibble parrots the most unsatisfied members of the fandom, which I admit I'm part of. Sometimes. But who hasn't? His ramblings would be obnoxious but the performance comes as a playful jab than a mean spirited one. It's helped by the performance and the animation overall. Sometimes, the fanboy bashing goes a little voerboard but when you are part of a fandom you see its uglier side an, seriously, when did the truth became an obscenity? Body Pillows exists. Deal with it. It's not something to be proud of but it's not something that has to be swept under the rug. I found that the episode's plot was overall stronger than Daring Don't and I would've rpeferred they used this to introduce the idea she was actually real. Also, while Patton Oswalt may not be the sweetest celebrity around, let us reflect on the fact that he went too his little girl, huge fan of the show, and said "Daddy is having an adventure with Rainbow Dash." You know? The face of the franchise? I have no problem with the genre throwbacks to old adventure books and Indiana Jones movies but I'm glad they didn't choose Rainbow Dash to play a Short Round type of character. Overall, the idea of Daring Do being real finally works for me, because it can be intrerpreted as finding a little of emotion and wonder even in a world that grew mundane with magic and dragons. And that's a beautiful thing. Perhaps it's just me that finds this particular meaning but isn't the unvierse a meaningless mass of crazy stuff except for the one we find? Also, this is the second time in a week I got philsophical because of talking horses. Blame Bojack Horseman for the first. You know what? See it, then blame and thank me for having reccomendded it. Also, I find hilarious the concept that Quibble thinks the adventures of Daring are not realistic even if we know that happened. Imagine this dialogue.
"Uh, Aluhizotl...This just doesn't work?"
"What do you mean?"
"This trap is so complicated. It's like you're not even trying. Where's the emotion and the exctiment from before?"
"Well, why don't you try to escape then?"
"I already done that as we speak. Seriously, step up your A game. This was...Meh."
"Curse you, Daring Doooo!"
Eeyup. A nice episode indeed. Also, that's probably what Quibble would've said.
