Joyous Hive Issues... · 12:27am Jul 24th, 2016
So... Many of you may ask... Where is the next Hive? It is... Having a bit of a length problem at the moment. Currently it is almost 20,000 words.
Now these include explanations as to why they disappeared, the area they chose and why, their connection to other Hives, what they did and now do, and the two separate personalities of both the Queen and the Hive itself. Now, many of you may be asking why this is a problem? Well, I don't want another Lust Hive issue where the Chapter is too overly Long. I'm hoping that no other Chapter reaches these lengths, as I should not need to go into as deep explanations and reasoning.
Now, I have a simple question for all of you, the Hive will need to be split, there is no questioning that, but when I split is still a bit of an issue, and I still need to finish it up and make it to a point where I enjoy where it concludes. (Meaning Twilight has the information she needs, and not too much is disturbed in the process) Now, I am currently working on a way to chop it down, but the question is this: would you guys prefer to get all of it at once? Or just the first part now, and get the second part when I finish?
I HATE to have to split up another Hive's Chapter, but the fact is, I have to. There is so much information that this Hive has that needs to be addressed. (Look above) and if you frequent my stories... I go into details.... A lot of details... It's probably a bad thing....
So tell me down below if you want the two chapters delivered at the same time, or if you want to see the first part now? I shall await your responses.
I also feel like I let you guys down in a way.... so... Sorry...
a lot of authors have a problem with adding too few details. not many add too many. id rather have too many than not enough. and if you wait a bit to post it, corrections can be made without fixing a posted chapter.
i vote to keep it single.
just rather see first part now
if you split the chapter
Hmm, too much good stuff is never bad, but, yeah, it might be a this idea to split a chapter once it goes beyond 20k words.
I think I'll vote for first part now, second part later. This time you'll have more time to finish the second part without feeling bad for making readers wait with nothing new to read in the meantime.
While I know other stories like Background Pony work well with 20k words per chapter I am not sure if this one would work well on the same level. It would be a bit of an outlier if left at 20k which could become a bridge for readers to cross. You don't want that.
As such I believe that you are correct in your judgement call to split it. I personally believe that you should send both chapters out at the same time though. That way I can enjoy the full thing in one sitting rather than having to wait for the second half which will most likely sit on a killer cliffhanger. I'm going to have to wait for the second part anyway so I don't mind waiting for the first half as well.
Just title it Joyous Hive: Part 1 and Part 2. That should work well enough.
Thanks for keeping up the hard work.
You didn't let anyone down and going into details isn't a bad thing, so don't think you did bad. Splitting up the chapter is probably for the best if it's as long as you say that it is.
