So I had a dinner date... · 6:35pm Jul 22nd, 2016
...and I cooked dinner!
Of course, some of you that might've just started following me in the last couple of years might not know that I know how to cook. Well, I do!
And for dinner, I decided:
Let's make something special! How about... ooh, Rosemary Roasted Chicken! I'll add some baby potatoes to that, it'll be perfect... but wait! It needs to be special, so it definitely needs something else something unique something...
Ratatouille
Well, if a rat can do it...
So I deboned the chicken. I still haven't gotten to 3mins/whole deboned chicken, but at around 10 that's not too bad. Potatoes were boiled a bit, then tossed with a little garlic, a little fresh rosemary, a little olive oil... pealed the tomatoes and...
Hey, I own a mandolin! Let's get it out! Dum-dee-dum... dum-dee-thumb! Ow! Well, there goes the fingertip. Maybe I should start using that little thing it came with... the guard/protector.... yes.
I can only blame myself. Ah well. Who needs a whole thumb anyway? They're totally overrated.
Success!
Woo! Eat your heart out, Miss Tatou!
Let's make the sauce!
It ended up being thicker than I intended though...
Preparing for the oven...
"Looks delicious, D!"
"Yeah, Rainbow Dash! Keep cheering me on!"
Finally cooked!
Wow. This actually looks like the real deal! Smells awesome too!
And finally... plating...
...which sucked. It collapsed like a sandcastle as soon as I took off the mold... but I blame it on the ingredients! I do! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find same-shaped tomatoes, eggplants, yellow squash and green squash? HARD. Anyway, next time will be better.
Thankfully, despite missing piece of my thumb by the end of it, dinner was a success and we both enjoyed it with a nice, cold bottle of white wine.
I love cooking.
Okay, but tell us about the date itself so we can live vicariously through you.
Me to. I make a mean bacon and blu stuffed chicken.
Did you get your dick wet?
4106562 Tell me about your feelings on the date so I can live vicariously through someone who lives vicariously through others.
4106588 I took a shower, so yes.
4106569 It's fun as hell.
4106562 it was great.
4106618
Syeekoh assured me you'd take that in good humor. If you'll excuse me, I have someone to go yell at.
As long as it tasted good, that's the most important part. :) Hope it went well for you.
Nicely done D, and here's to ratatouille.
..You play a mandolin?
Cooking is fun! Sadly, my laziness tends to win against my desire to make tasty, tasty food...
4106569 bacon...and bleu? take me with you! *salivates all over your shirt*
Nice (minus the thumb thing). I really like your cup too.
4106588 Do you need a slap upside the head?
I hope she had a nice big pair of servings, because it looks like you had plenty for seconds. Maybe even whole minutes if you were slow enough.
Wordplay!
4106610 How far can we go?
That's so rad!
The traditional rustic French dish was sort of a vegetable stew, so getting it to look pretty with nice layers and all that earns you bonus points.
Nice, just thinking about how you made it makes me hungry.
4107260 As far as you want, I have nothing better to do.
4106618 Glad it was great Wanderer :D.
4106876 Well, I do love cooking for others, so come on over...
If you can figure out where I live
I'm glad you had a good time, and that Ratatouille looked delicious
Oh man! How did this never show up in my feed?! I'm nearly three months late!
