Hello there followers! l was at work the other day and was wondering how l could celebrate the Fourth of July this year. My mind immediately jumped to: "well you did the Declaration of Independence last year, why not the Constitution (and the amendments) this year with some explanation and clearing up of misunderstandings that have come about over the years." So l'm going to do just that. l'll be going through the text of it bit by bit in order to collect my thoughts on the subject at hand. The text will be italicized and my commentary will probably be colored in. Now, some basic ground rules here; 1) l am not an expert on the Constitution, 2) a good majority of my commentary will be subjective and you might not agree with what l have to write about any section of the text. lf that happens, write it in the comments and l'll probably elucidate more there, and 3) I have a Libertarian bent to my life so there will be a lot of "government is bad" rhetoric in my comments. If you are not an American (yes, l know that there are more than one "kind" of American but that differentiation only comes about in Spanish) you can tell me how awful and imperialist l am in the comments. Enough of that! lets get cracking!
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
This is probably the most straightforward bit of the entire text, due to the fact that it isn't part of the legal document proper. It just sets up the reasoning for and behind the writing much like what l did with this blogpost Article 1 tomorrow!
