Today is November 11th. On this day ninety-nine years ago at roughly four in the morning France time (UTC+1) representatives of the German government met with representatives of the Allied powers. They agreed to the terms set by the powers that they would unconditionally surrender at 11:00 that morning. Thus ended one of the most devastating conflicts in human history. While it didn't have the impact that the second world war, it left its mark in the minds of those who participated in the conflict. Included in those who participated were: J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis,T.E. Lawerence and many others who's prose continues to influence us today. I simply wrote this to remind those of why today matters
