I guess Heroes Never Die.

Yes. There is no resistance.

You think you guys'll have it bad? :trixieshiftright:

Whats that from?
I have been out of the gaming loop for way to long

Overwatch. It's Blizzard's new FPS game. Kind of like TF2.

3963655 It's begun already!? Awesome

Is this Battleborn?

Only 25 hours til the world disappears :raritystarry:

With no cosmetic items, can't change weapon loadouts, fewer maps, no LAN support, no mod support, and costs $60 as apposed tf which is free.

BWAAAHAHAHAHHA.

Do you have it? I know a number who do and will probably stream it soon after it comes out.

Mercy Master Race!

With no cosmetic items

False. Skins/sprays/voice lines are common.

can't change weapon loadouts

Technically true, but misleading. One of the main mechanics in Overwatch is switching between classes, and the game has more than twice as many classes as TF2 does (21 vs 9) with plans to add more after release (for free). This fills the same purpose as loadout changes.

fewer maps

False. TF2 launched with six maps. Overwatch is launching with twelve.

no LAN support, no mod support

These are both valid. However, they're both very much YMMV sort of things. Not everyone needs LAN support, or requires mods for online FPS games. For me, these things matter little. If they're something that's important to you, however, then fair enough.

They're also fairly endemic of Blizzard games in general. None have LAN support, and aside from the whole SC2 game generator thing, mods are a rarity. Unless you count things like Gearscore or any of the healing scripts for WoW.

and costs $60 as apposed tf which is free.

TF2 wasn't free to start with, and Overwatch doesn't cost $60. You can pay $60 for a special edition, but the base game is $40. The Orange Box (which was originally the only way to purchase TF2), however, did cost $60.

To clarify, you're perfectly welcome to prefer TF2 to Overwatch. I just dislike misinformation

Blizzard Entertainment is making FPS now? Please tell me that's a joke.....
I'm not playing non-pony games anymore (except there's a pony mod for them), but the developers of the Diablo series going for another genre than Fantasy RPG would be terrible. :twilightoops:

Blizzard has developed MMO's, RTS's, a MOBA and a collectible card game. All of them excellent and top selling titles. I see no reason they shouldn't add an FPS to the list.

I, along with 9.8 million other people, played the game during open beta, and can vouch for it being awesome.

Maercy me, is it almost time already?
...I'll just go...

Completely understandable.

Mine was Dark Souls 3. I'm in so deep I can't even fap.

Not like I care, I wanna PVP.

Had a ton of fun during the beta, and can't wait for release! The beta had over 9.7 million players, I hope Blizzard's servers are ready for us :rainbowwild:

Any Jurists wanna get a party going and play?

See ya'll on the battlefield! :ajsmug:

Looks a teensy bit like Aigis from Persona 3 (my 2nd favorite game character and favorite game).

When the beta was open, I couldn't wait for it to close so I could go back to TF2. (#bastionispotg and I hate it.) But I still haven't really gone back to TF2. (That might just be Bethesda's fault, actually.) Now I see STAR_ Overwatch videos and I think, "Wow, I really want to play Overwatch again. Go figure."

I'm not sure how to feel about this.

EDIT- However, I'm pretty sure I won't be shelling out $60 for it anytime soon. Or freaking $25 for Far Harbor. What is they thinking?

EDITagain- If they rework Bastion and all of their maps, I might actually consider it.

The game is actually $40. $60 is for the Origins edition, which includes a couple of skins.

And Bastion ain't that bad? Genji, Roadhog, and Mei are all pretty effective counters.

Ah, TF2 with waifus. My nephew made me download the beta. It was fun, I guess, but I don't like FPS games (can't help comparing them to Unreal Tournament 99, and they all fall short next to it). Now he wants me to buy it for him, but I think there are better uses for that money (like the next Pokemon game).

Honorary Disney Princess?

3963976 Well good news, they aren't. Seriously, I don't think anyone other than Metzer (I am nearly sure that's the artist's name I'm thinking of) is left from the Diablo and Diablo 2 team. I know the WoW team is mostly vacated too, not at all clear about Starcraft but I know it's at least some of the same people. Blizzard is a very different company at this point, and it seems to me in a bad way, but so far things haven't tanked or anything, and maybe an FPS will be better overall simply because they're different.

3965596

That's always what happens when a company like this suddenly tries out something that is completely alien to it, when it changes its image. It's just not the same anymore then and I'm not simply speaking about the change that happened, what I mean is that the new stuff the company is making is just not as good anymore as the old stuff and lacks in many regards, because it's not what the company is actually good at. There is a reason why traditions are important and why one should stick to them.
So, does this mean the whole Diablo crew was fired? Maybe they will make a second "Hellgate: London" attempt, even though the first one failed, then.

3964828 Ha! The over-abundant choke points laugh at your attempts at counters. None of those guys are getting anywhere near Bastion on King's Row or Temple of Anubis Alpha points.

Huh. Kinda looks like what would happen if Pixar and Tf2 made a baby together.

3963913 I guess the line between characters and classes blurs here. Do I count the demotarge, a stickyjumper, and a stock demoman as the same class? I wouldn't, and some of these variants weren't available on launch. Though, I will say that it is good to examine how flexible or adaptable (or not) Overwatch characters are to potentially different playstyles. It'll be interesting to see where Activision trys to take this game as a community may or may not develop.

3965603 I don't know if any were actually fired, but most of them have sure moved on. I think the biggest chunk formed area net and made Guild Wars and GW2. Until very recently David Brevik was the CEO of Gazillion and mostly working on Marvel Heroes, a good and free Diablo clone. Though the pay model does strongly encourage you to buy stuff, you can get everything for free if you put in the time, but since each hero is it's own class more or less it's very tempting to get more of them faster beyond the initial freebie right away, instead of getting enough of the in game currency.

And the point I'm making is in a way Bliz has already reached that point in somewhat lacking since so many of teh old people have left, regardless of why, they're no longer all that great at what they used to do, and it seems to be going downhill. Of course acording to some message boards there has already been a nuclear explosion at the bottom of the hill, but it doesn't seem that bad yet. my other point is because of this change the new genre might actually be something they are good at because the new people are. I have no idea because in general I hate PvP and I'm not terribly fond of FPS games on top of that so I even if I played Overwatch I'd have no clue if it's any good since I'd probably dislike it anyway because it's just not my sort of game.

Of course saying that it would be weird if going forward Bliz is better known for FPS games rather than RTS and RPGs.
