Update On Things (as of 5/2016) · 5:08pm May 19th, 2016
So you may have noticed by now that I posted a new one-shot, a comedic/slice of life quickie called "There's A Story Behind This" that I hope everyone will find to their reading satisfaction. 
But at the same time, I'm sure some may recall that the last time I discussed fanfic projects, this one wasn't mentioned among them. In fact, that blog post well predates the episode that inspired it, so I suppose somebody's probably wondering what happened to the other fanfics I've alluded to be working on that still haven't appeared yet.
Well...there's a story behind that too.
Basically, what happened was that some real life concerns seriously got in the way; I became unemployed back in March and have been struggling to find work since. So I hope understandably, fanfic writing hasn't exactly been a high priority as of late. In fact, until I started work on "There's A Story Behind That," which was very much unplanned and done on a sudden whim, I hadn't worked on much of any fanfiction for the past couple of months, so I'm really not a lot further into them than I was when I last spoke of them.
But I'm still going to get them finished and posted, right?
...right?
Well, as I said last time, I have another one-shot in the works, and all it needs still is one last good go-through in editing to make sure it's all up-to-snuff and for me to finish making the cover art. This of course got delayed by my employment situation, but also more recently by the fact that the laptop I do all my art projects on (like aforementioned cover art) is currently under the weather and is with a tech-savvy family member for some maintenance. Once that's all resolved though, that one-shot should be getting posted in the hopefully not to much more distant future.
As for the others...I do not want to make any promises at present time.
See, before I suspended work on it, I got about, I estimate, a third of a way into the rewrite of "Shadow Of A Ghost" and things were looking good, but since then, my dedication to continuing it has been wavering. On one side I truly think this rewrite would make it a significantly better story if ever finished, but on the other, I can't help but remind myself that it's only a fanfic, and wonder if it's really worth dedicating the time to it when I could spend it doing things that would be more beneficial to me in the long run. Basically, it's a relapse to the state of the mind that I fell into when I went into what was nearly a permanent hiatus.
If that rewrite still makes it out onto the web someday, that'd be great...but I also don't want to set myself up for failure and find it never happens either, so forewarning to those that are wanting to see it.
It's a similar story for the remaining fanfic I've alluded to be working on, which in the past I've referred to as my "swansong" fanfic. There's a chance it may not still happen...but I admit to seeing it as slightly more likely in it getting posted eventually in some shape or form on the grounds that I'm more emotionally attached to it (it's that sort of fanfic).
I know readers are probably hoping for promises of more fanfics for them to read at a future date, and that this isn't really it, and I apologize, but I gotta be at least a little realistic here, and I don't want you guys to be waiting forever for things that could easily never come. In short, we'll see what happens. Best for us to cross our fingers and hope for the best. Maybe, perhaps, my skepticism will prove unfounded in the end.
I appreciate your honesty. All our hobbies go through phases like this, and being jobless is distracting. I would very much appreciate reading your re-write but I understand your hesitance. Best of luck to you.
