Return of the Broken Series

Hello all.

It's the middle of May and I'm posting a new story. I guess it's not just MLP that does seasonal things out of season!

Well, I guess that would make more sense if I had written another Halloween or Christmas story. See, i'm actually resurrecting an old story series that I wrote before Something Sweet to Bite, or any of my more recent stories, WAY back when I first became a brony.

Each story in the Broken series was meant to be related to the others. While each story was self contained, they would all link to one another and tell an over arching tale.

Each 'Book' related to one of the Elements of Harmony. Long before Season 4 had it's over arching story about how the Mane 6 had difficult decisions to make in relation to the element they represented, I had thought of a similar idea. Only, being me, it was how their Elements hurt them, rather than helped others.

Each story was also meant to explore certain flaws in the fandom. Distasteful fetishes, creepy obsessions, and outright rewriting of characters and their personalities to fit the fandom's personal fantasies. It was probably quiet a bit more ambitious than my writing ability could keep up with, but at the time the stories were very important to me.

The Broken series also introduced the idea that Discord was a much more powerful entity than he appears even in the show, and that while he isn't outright evil, he is still ultimately a creature of disorder and destruction. And then there is his adopted daughter, Screw Ball. I came up with a rather... unique origin for the crazy pony, that was more than a little dark. But happy at the same time, you know? A mad little swirl of love and degradation that put a much needed twist in the 'tail' so to speak.

Anyways, I've decided to restart the series, with a three part series. The first story is Broken: Love. I will do a separate blog post on it's inspiration and why I wrote it at a later date. There are going to be at least two more stories, one of which I already know will be Broken: Death. But as to the second story, ah, that might be a bit of a surprise...

In any event, if you'd like to read the Broken Series, here is the original run in it's entirety:

Reading them is not mandatory to understand the story of Broken: Love, but it will help you understand the over arching story that the trilogy will eventually tell.
