BABSCon and The Royal Canterlot Library · 2:06am May 1st, 2016
Hey, everyone!
I just want to start out by saying that BABSCon 2016 was an absolute blast. It was great reuniting with friends from last year, and meeting new friends to look forward to seeing in the years to come.
Around the time I was leaving for it, I got a message from Chris on behalf of the Royal Canterlot Library. Namely, they wanted to include Pinkie Pie and The Quest for Missing Smiles in their collection. Their "best of the best", which currently contains fewer than two hundred stories. Needless to say, I was both honored and shocked. I say shocked because, at that point in time, it was my least-read and least-liked story. I kind of figured it had been brushed under a rug somewhere, to be forgotten in the annals of time. But one of you guys liked it enough to send them a suggestion, and for that, whoever you are, I cannot thank you enough. I know not every story is a winner, but it's so gratifying to see recognition for something heart and soul went into. The curators had so many nice things to say about it, from the characterization of Pinkie to the pacing of the story. It makes me kick myself even harder knowing that I had the chance to speak with one of them personally at BABSCon and blew the opportunity.
If you guys are at all curious to know their words in detail (and an interview where I delve into some finer details on the story and writing in general) you can see the post on their website here. If you haven't taken the time to read this story yet, maybe this will help guide you that way!
In unrelated news, I'm still working on the next chapter for Twilight Sparkle's School of Harmony. It's in the final phases of editing now. This chapter is longer than the previous two combined, so apologies if it's taking a little while. That said, there's only one chapter after it, so look forward to the story as a whole being completed before too long.
Peace!
