Brainstorming On An Idea! · 6:55pm Apr 17th, 2016
So, about two minutes ago, while looking through recent story updates, I saw another "Twilight is secretly a changeling" story. I've seen many of these stories before: Celestia is a changeling; Applejack is a changeling; Rainbow Dash is a changeling; etc.
Anywho, that got me thinking about body swapping stories. I've never done one before and it's hard to say if I ever will. It reminds me a little too much of crossovers and that they're easy attention seekers. Like you want to write about Tirek, but don't want to write his character, so you put someone else inside of his body to write however you'd like. 
ANYWHO! 
That made me wonder if anyone has ever body swapped the Mane Six with six of the show's villains before? Say, Twilight experimenting with magic as usual with her friends and the next morning they wake up as their worst enemies and vice-versa.
Fun part! Who would be swapped with who? 
Simplest answer first: Fluttershy and Sombra. 
Adorable and evil. Makes sense. But they keep their own voices.
Who else? I could see Discord either being swapped with Twilight or Pinkie. Twilight would be very interested in chaos magic and Pinkie would complain that her magic's been limited somehow. 
Perhaps Rarity and Chrysalis? So Rarity could transform into the most gorgeous of ponies around? 
I'm not sure about the others, but if it hasn't been done before it could be interesting. I'd love to make a one-shot out of it, but doubt that would be possible. I also don't want to start another never-ending story (Bad Dude) at the moment. So maybe I'll just swap Flutts and Sombra for no good reason and laugh for 3-4k. 
Any combinations you think would make a good fit? Any stories that have done this before that you know of? I'd be very interested to know. Thanks for reading this random blog post.

change Cadence with Chrysalis or sombra with cadence. For comedic effect have them an intercourse with shining armor during the story.

Fluttershy and Sombra would be hilarious. I'd love to see that.
If you're worried about originality, I will say that I've seen a bunch of Discord body-swaps with both Pinkie and Twilight. I think a switch with Applejack or somepony else might be kind of hilarious, just because they'd have hardly to no experience with flying and/ or magic, and with chaos magic they'd be totally out-of-control.
For Rainbow Dash, I'd find Flim or Flam pretty funny, just because:
1. She'd be loyal to her friends, so becoming the Apple Family's rival would not be fun for the other brother.
2. She'd hate having to walk everywhere. Unless she would be able to figure out how to teleport or something...
3. If the brothers still have that Super Speedy Cider Squeezey 6000 someplace, RD can get all of the cider her little heart desires...
Just a few suggestions, I'd love to see this story come to to life!
I would not be surprised at all if someone's done a story like this, but go ahead! Add your take on it, I'd love to see it knowing you. And yeah, Rarity being swapped with Chrysalis sounds like a good laugh.

Well, I can think of a few examples of good body swap fics if you want further inspiration, and they each take a different approach. Rainbow Rocks takes the most grounded route, and has Maud (who makes everything better). While unfinished, Sisterly Switched is a story in which the swapping is consensual. And Cutie Mark Crusadicorn is just hilarious.
It's not exactly a body swap, but this reminds me of Plural Possessive: Sombra tries to take over Twilight's body but ends up in Dinky Doo's head instead.

3876873 Two ways to do that: 1. Like Inside/Out -- where the Mane Six have semi-control over Sombra, but don't interact with him directly.
2. They can all talk to him at once, resulting in very quick and messy Sombra suicide.
3876834 The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards just doing Sombra/Flutts. Sombra wakes up in Ponyville and uses his new body for evil. Flutts wakes up just outside the Crystal Empire and has to prove she's not super evil. Probably some dick jokes in there for good measure.

As for Twilight as Trixie, I like that combo too. Have you read Princess Trixie Sparkle? That is one of my favorites for the Twilight/Trixie swap.
But either way, would love to have more villains swap with the mane six stories!

Given that Lord Tirek loves trees so much, it only makes sense that he swaps his body with Applejack.

How about Nightmare Moon and Pinkie Pie? Imagine you were Luna stuck with Pinkie in her mind... for 1000 years... on the moon... with no distractions what so ever.
