    Quick Question

I feel like most fluttercord fans have moved on. And I have no right to ask because I am the worst at keeping promises, but if I ever finished a weird "Beauty and the Beast" fluttercord-style, would you read it?

    "Discord's Patchwork Adventure" by Comicizzum

I know it's been a long time, and I know I probably don't really have a lot of followers anymore since so many have moved on from the fandom, but I tend to hold on and never let go. And in doing so, I found an amazing fluttercord story that features romance (obviously), touching friendship scenes that show it ISN'T just the romantic relationship that matters, a large amount of beloved side

Um... New Story Maybe and Also I'm Sorry

I know. It's been too long

    I'm sorry.

I'm writing a new one shot though. I missed writing. I never left the fandom, but life got busy. And it is still very incredibly busy.

    I Have Changed My Mind!

So I hardly EVER split chapters into two separate parts. I've done it before, but only like once or maybe twice. But then Phoaray (an awesome writer, btw, I highly recommend his Twixie/Fluttercord story, Hopes and Follies), suggested that I consider it. I originally told him that I didn't really do that, and gave him a really gross metaphor

Still Writing It: Short Sneak Peek Included

I'm at 11K now, and Discord's still a friggin' little kid.

    *begins to tear hair out*

Why must everything I write must be so long? Gah.

So with the new season starting soon... · 12:46am Mar 7th, 2016

Just know that My Little Draconequus: Wishing is Magic may go even more off-canon now than it did before. For example, we may find out more about Fluttershy's family in this season, and seeing as I've already got Fluttershy's past all planned out in my head and will be the basis of the chapter after the next, it may clash with things we learn in upcoming episodes.

Also, sorry the chapter isn't done yet. I'm actually more than halfway done with it, but I hit a snag where it sounds kind of awkward. I'm going to trek on and just get it finished and then see if I can fix it later.

Darn it. And I thought I'd be able to finish it faster this time... But anyway, I just wanted to go ahead and say that. I didn't think this story would take me so long to write (it's been soooooo long and I have no excuuuuuuse) but now that it's entering into the sixth season, I just wanted to go ahead and warn y'all that I'm not gonna worry about what next season tells us in terms of background history and stuff. For instance, if Fluttershy's got a brother in canon, well...I'm not going to worry about him. He won't be in it and doesn't exist in the story.

I might still get people who tell me it's off canon eventually anyway, but oh well! It's all in good fun.

Hey, just slap an Alternate Universe label on it and you can get away with pretty much anything.

3794811 True, but is it AU enough? Everything that happened before the story is the same. Is that enough or would it confuse people?

How's your chapter coming, btw? I'll bet you're farther than me on yours. UGH I'M SO SLOW AND LAZY

3794815 You could say in the description that it's a post-Season 4 AU. That's sort of what I did with mine to make it clear that, with the exception of the Discord episodes, Season 1-3 happened but after that it goes its own way.

Glad you asked about the chapter. I'm happy to report that I have most of it written, expect for a few scenes toward the end, but once I have those ready and finish editing the thing, I'll have it posted this month.

And I wouldn't say you're slow and lazy. If it's a choice between getting a sloppy chapter right away, or waiting for a good chapter later on, I think most readers (myself included) would prefer the good chapter later.

3794815 Oh, forgot to mention, I was aiming to get chapter 3 out by February, so for what it's worth, if you're feeling behind on chapter production you're not alone.

3794843 Thank you! I will have mine out this month too. It's just I'll go weeks without touching it. I think it's because it's like I'm afraid of it since it's usually when I'm stuck and its easier to do other stuff. Like play Pokemon. :twilightblush:

But Thank you! You're so nice. Always reading my blogs and leaving nice things and supporting me. It means a lot. And I'm so glad your chapter is coming along well! I think I'm more than halfway done so hopefully it won't be too long for me either. And I love the suggestion, I'll add that to the description when I update.

3794866 Good to know I'm not, thanks. I certainly didn't think I'd be at this for more Than a year, and it's way past that point. Good thing it's a standalone story. I think you've done great with chapter production, the first story is already done and now you're on the second one! I never would have done it that fast.

*Chuckles* Well, it's good to pace yourself to certain extent when it comes to writing. Do you try giving yourself a certain word-count per day? In his book On Writing, Stephen King suggests trying to write 1000 words a day and once you make that word-count, taking some time to focus on something else. Granted that might not work for everyone, but I've found it to be a good guideline when it comes to how long I work on a chapter.

But Thank you! You're so nice. Always reading my blogs and leaving nice things and supporting me. It means a lot. And I'm so glad your chapter is coming along well! No problem. After all the encouraging comments you've left on my stories, it's the least I can do. And I'm glad my suggestion was helpful.

3794951 See, at first when I first started the chapter, I was doing just that. Writing a little bit every day. Or almost every day. I did it for about a week, but I might have skipped a day in that time period, I'm not sure. But then I hit the snag where it wasn't just coming to me anymore, and now I'm struggling to get it flowing again. But once I get to a certain point I'll be able to get going again, and then I'll just reread it over.

But a month and a half to wait for this chapter isn't as long as what I've done before. What was it before? Three months? And before that I think it was around another three! So yay improvement! I think.

But I worked on it some tonight and I hope to do it again sometime after work tomorrow. I have one last scene to flesh out and then it'll be done. But knowing me, I'll bet the scene will be longer than I think it will be. I dunno. This chapter's pace is a bit faster than the rest, I feel like. Some really short time skips. It's weird. I hope it reads okay when it's finished.

No problem. After all the encouraging comments you've left on my stories, it's the least I can do. And I'm glad my suggestion was helpful.

Dawww, you do much more than the least, I assure you. But it's nice that you and me and some other writers support each other so well. Makes me really glad I like MLP and that I joined this site or else this all never would have happened and I never would have met you or Woolly or Missy or a bunch of other friends!

3795010 Friendship is magic! :trollestia:

No seriously, I've gained a huge respect for people who can write big sprawling multi-chapter works and release them as they go. It's stressful and difficult! (I will also blame my inability to produce Shipping Goggles II: Electric Scootaloo on my one ongoing fic...) :derpytongue2:

I don't think you need to make a big deal about the differences between your story and canon. A simple note in the story description, and maybe some author's notes at the start of any diverging chapters, would probably cover you. Not every story can or needs to keep 100% in lockstep with the latest canon developments.

I find it weird I just finished reading the story (at least what there is for now) just a hour before this was posted! I loved the story. I can wait if you want to take a break though. :scootangel:

I find if the story already has an audience, then canon doesn't matter too much in this instance, because the people reading it already know that it was written prior to the new season.

TBH, the thing that annoys me most about what's been revealed for the season premiere is we don't start with the Discord 2 parter- which means we may not get Discord until the end of the season ;_;. Unless they slip in an extra episode inbetween.

3795686 True, but new readers might not pay attention to the dates and give me issues. I hope not. But I'll have you guys so it'll be OK. :scootangel:
Just a two parter isn't enough Discord! We need like at least 15 Discord episodes. Maybe 50.

Thanks guys! I feel a bit better about it, even with the premiere so close.
