HELP WANTED! (Project Spark and Mente Materia) · 2:19am Feb 29th, 2016

As discussed briefly in my previous blog, work is continuing (slowly) on the Project SPARK mod, and I think that I might have been a bit conservative in my initial thoughts about how many people will be needed.

SO! I'm putting out the call for skilled folks (two to three) to help with the following potential areas:

New Weapons (currently in process, being worked on by a very talented individual)
Soldier Class addition/modification (expected to be very time consuming here)
New Items/changes to existing items (mostly equipment/consumables)
New Research and Foundry projects, changes to existing projects (some tech tree revisions to account for the new things that will be added)
Reports for the above projects/modifying existing reports (This one is all me!)

And entirely optional but would be extremely awesome:

Model creation for the new weapons

Folks with programming or modding experience would be amazing!

Now, with that out of the way, I should also mention that I am in need of another editor to join my team. Arzoo and BradTheBrony have been doing an excellent job of fixing my errors (before more are introduced by me porting it into fimfiction) but I would like to bring on one more person to help. You would be responsible for the usual grammar and spelling stuff, but also to tell me when something isn't clear or if something isn't right.

If anyone's interested, just drop me a note here and I'll see what comes of this!

You should contact a few of the guys at the Nexus, they might be willing to give it a go. Plus, you'll get some good recs that way too.

I might be able to help with editing.

Editing? Sure.

It's been awhile since I was in another writer's doc. Kinda miss it. If you want someone to waltz through a rough draft, I'm your man.

I wish I was better at coding... unfortunately I'm not, but I can offer you my help with editing. I thoroughly enjoy finding little mistakes here and there. It's one of my favourite things to do.

I could probably help out with items and research projects if nothing else.

Let me guess, alternate versions of the Avatar's Psi repeater for the end game weapons?

Not quite. LANC weapons from Stardust make an appearance.

Happy to be of help in all areas. I already pre-read for EqD, as you know, and I'm more than happy to lend a hoof to you personally!

Editing Mente Materia? Yes please. :raritystarry:
Modding for XCOM 2 would require a new rig, unfortunately.

I have really rudimentary knowledge of coding and modding sadly, so I don't think I can be of help, but I'd still like to wish you the best of luck with this project.
Give me a shout if you need some beta-testing or other more...menial tasks.

I'm not too skilled in the modding department, but this could just help get me started down that path since I do have an interest in modding for XCOM 2.

I have rudimentary knowledge on coding (HTML, C++, Java), but I must admit that it has been a while since I've worked with those languages. I could try working out on some graphic arts since I've been taught the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, but it has, yet again, been a long while since I've effectively used such software.

Overall, I won't be able to be that skilled expert who just knows everything he's doing. I have an enormous amount of time that can be put into learning as I go throughout the project however. Time is the one resource that I have an ample amount of to offer in order to improve upon my weaknesses.

I hope to be of some use to this large project of yours despite being like a rookie joining the XCOM team. I'll have the XCOM 2 tools downloaded and warmed up for when things start to get arranged some more and the operations commence.

I would like to volunteer for editing and proofreading, though it doesn't seem like you are short on those...

3783309 Aren't LANC a gun that fires a projectile at very high speeds (maybe 5000 m/s wink wink)? That sounds a lot like the magnetic guns from XCOM 2... :raritywink:

3800953 Actually... if I remember how the LANC worked correctly, well, the test where all the targets actually had holes punctured through them before the projectile even reached them proved it worked by simply displacing the matter of the target at 'impact point' near instantaneously. I may be wrong though.
