Recently, on Heart of the Dragon General, a string of comments began comparing certain events in my story to certain biblical events, with passages taken out of context, leading to rather...upsetting commentary. I won't name names, but the term "Abrahemen death cults" was utilized. I found this particularly upsetting, as did some of my other readers.
As such, I've instituted a new policy on the comments on my story.
If you're going to discuss religion, use polite language, and don't reference specific passages of any religious text. This applies to modern theology or ancient mythology. I find it especially distasteful, and it only leads to flame wars otherwise.
Any comment on any of my stories that insults any religion will be immediately deleted. That is now my policy regarding comments on my stories. Please respect my wishes, and your fellow readers.
Note that this does not apply to comments meant in good humor, (for example, joking references to the Greek Gods' amorous proclivities), but the line where "good humor" crosses into "insult" is mine to draw.
If your comment gets deleted, it's no judgement on you. Just the content of that particular comment.
Also, if you want to discuss specific passages of religious text with someone as it pertains to a particular story, please take it to a PM or one of the group forums.

I honestly don't care about your opinion or what you can justify about what you refer to religions as. I care about what I perceive as insulting in how you refer to them. And referring to any religion as a 'death cult' is insulting. Please do not do so on my stories or blogs.

You can joke about inherent logical fallacies of a religion's teachings all you like. Just don't use language that's insulting, and don't try to 'prove your point' about it either. I'm not asking you - or anyone - to not talk about religion at all. I'm just asking everyone to be polite and considerate of it. Religion is a hot button issue for a lot of people, and I don't want flame wars starting in my comments, and the best way to avoid that is to clear out any buildups of tinder and mast, so to speak.

Why do the actions of one troll or ignoramus always result in arguments that pull others in, where things are said that can't be taken back, or in the worst cases, lead to wars and overall death? Why can't people just be tolerant, and not resort to petty insults that escalate so?

I didn't really know about this was going on the comments till today. I been loving your story so much that I didn't really read what is going on, but thanks for stepping in to be sure people would stop saying hurtful things...
