Word Count Rules Suck! · 6:33am Jan 26th, 2016
I really, really, really hate that I'm trying to limit my overblown word count on the tagged fic.
Seriously, it's a bitch. I've written three pages and am into the fourth, and Gdocs already has the count at nearly 1600 words.
It'll be more as I get ready to post it; not sure when that will be. My writing is still inconsistent.
But that's besides the point; I'm here to bitch about this self-imposed rule.
I don't know why I'm making such a big deal about it. Maybe it's a bit of envy; there's a ton of fics that are able to show so much in less than 2k words; yet when I try, I get 5k.
Ugh.
Still, I do like the idea of smaller chapters. Less of a hassle to work with, and less overall to edit. That last one is important, as I'm forced to do all of my own editing.
Sorry for grumbling; I'll shut up now...

then don't. when I write, I find it better to just let the words flow as things go and see from there. Your writing and plotline for Light's RIsing, Shadow's fall is great and I can't wait to read more but sometimes I feel as if I'm missing something that's going on. The flow and transitions aren't as smooth as they could be and I think it's because you're trying to pare down your word count. That's not to say what you're trying to do isn't great. Most people have this problem where they can't write simply and to the point, the way you're doing it however, is affecting the overall impact of your story.
