I dreamt I wrote a poem about the creation of the Candy Mare. Like, not the actual process that lead me to think of the character, but some bizarre live action performance art where I was gathering up the different pieces of her body from a run down haunted house and slowly putting her together. Apparently the police wanted to arrest me for crimes against humanity, and stop me before I finished the poem to keep her from being unleashed on the world.
Later in the same dream I dreamt she used to be human but was in some bizarre nazi experiment that made her a monster in the first place, and the reason she looked like a pony was those were the largest animals she could find to ingest when she was let loose on the battlefield, making her a deranged human-pony hybrid.
I think the moral of the story is people need to stop saying they think I got the idea from a Gravity Falls episode. I mean the original story was posted on Fimfiction a week before Summerween even aired, and it had been up on the FIM;Fanfiction Archive almost a year before that! I know Math is hard but come on!

You know, I never noticed how similar the plots of Summerween and Something Sweet To Bite were until you pointed it out...
But WOW they are super, super similar! I can see how people could make that misconception!
3712645 I dunno about all that. While there is something of a 'candy gathering' competition, it's between two groups of kids and isn't really engendered by the monster in something Sweet to Bite, As a matter of fact, though there is a big message of 'maybe traditions are good and you shouldn't mess with them' the Candy Mare herself doesn't care if you show the proper Nightmare Night spirit or not, she's still going to kill you. That and I doubt the Summerween monster has anything like as well developed a background as Candy.
Pretty much all of the similarities are purely superficial.
If I thought otherwise, I'd be looking to get paid by Disney.
I never thought about that Gravity Falls episode
While I do see the resemblance, I wouldn't have thought about that unless someone mentioned it XD
