Doctor Who News: Steven Moffat is Stepping Down and Series 10 will air in Spring, 2017 · 11:38pm Jan 22nd, 2016
Well, the time has come. Today, it was just confirmed by the BBC that Series 10 will be Steven Moffat's final season as the showrunner for Doctor Who. Not only that, but his successor was also revealed to be Chris Chibnall, who has already written several episodes for the show including 42, The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, and The Power of Three. I'll be sad to see Moffat go as, along with RTD, I've thoroughly enjoyed his tenure. It makes me wonder if Capaldi will be stepping down alongside him. The timing is perfect. The modern Doctos seemed to have fallen into a pattern of three seasons each and Series 10 will be Capaldi's third season in the role. But, we shouldn't worry about that right now. We still have another full season of Moffat and Capaldi to look forward to. I've enjoyed Chibnall's episodes thus far so I'm interested in seeing what he brings to the table.
It's also been revealed that Series 10 will start in the "spring of 2017". So we've got a long wait ahead of us. There will be a 2016 Christmas special but no other specials for 2016 have been mentioned.

I heard the news earlier today. So, this Chibnall guy has already written some pretty good episodes of Doctor Who so far. That's good to hear. From what I understand, Chris Chibnall was the showrunner or creator or something of the BBC series Broadchurch. I've never actually seen it though, but it apparently stars David Tennant and Arthur Darvill (you know, Rory Pond ). I did see the American adaptation Gracepoint, which also starred Tennant. My sister seemed to like it more than I did, and she was quite bothered by its cancelation, but whatever.

I've watched Broadchurch. It's a very interesting murder mystery series and David Tennant is fantastic in it (though when is he not awesome in something?). A lot of people apparently hated the second season though. I personally enjoyed it. I didn't really feel the need to watch Gracepoint as, from what I've seen, it appeared to pretty much be a shot-for-shot American remake of the original show.
