Look let me state this now its nearly 2 AM over here where I'm at and I'm damn tired but just imagining that made me want to fall asleep and not in a bad way either.
Quit literally the opposite of that personally I've never been to a spa to have anything done the closest I've come is a sauna and a Hot tube that's heated to 104.9 F/40.5 C/ 313.7 K now that last one seems really high but remember Kelvin starts at about -459.67F/-273.1C so basically absolute 0.
Now with your little science snippet over, let me say this most things if they aren't entertaining and have a slow pace or have no need for attention causes me to fall asleep (going and listening to the opera is one example, slow music can sometime have the same result). That aside this wasn't any of that more of the opposite.
The story it self explains why Rainbow doesn't want to go so go read it to find out but I can see why her anxiety would cause that problem. The other thing that comes of this is a Head cannon that is held to still be possible up in the air about the spa twins as well as the sexual preference of Rainbow Dash.
Rarity starts off as a important character but as it progresses turns out not really but is some ways is the reason for the spa it self. In the end Rarity is the vehicle to make the scenes for the spa and wrap up said scene so in a way she has her role to play, and isn't some side character that isn't needed. Well done on the writers part for that.
Nice introduction and ending. It fits the mood and pacing of the story. As well as shows the reader the reason for the spa treatments as well as everything else that show up later in the story.
Not much dicecting of the characters are needed in this Fan Fiction.
