Tournament of Canterlot Outcome - Victory · 8:54pm Jan 1st, 2016
So I won the Tournament of Canterlot. I have also already received the prize money, which is five hundred dollars.
Not bad for writing pony fanfiction, huh?
Some of this money is going to go towards keeping me alive for the month and a half or so that I still have to spend here in Canada, before my immigration paperwork fills up. It's a bit of security towards keeping a roof over my head and food in my stomach. Which, you know, is really freaking nice.
The rest, however, will be going to other charities. One of these is a charity in Toronto, which is near where I'm staying. I'll be giving them at least a hundred dollars. A hundred dollars will also go towards a horse-related charity, because I love horses, and an obsession with horse fanfiction just won me five hundred dollars. A hundred dollars will go to. Something else, I don't know what yet.
I couldn't have done this, quite literally, without all of you. Thank you for helping me find a reason to write, and helping me help others. Thank you for reading, for investing your time in my stories, for giving me your ideas, and letting me work with your characters. Thank you: those who contributed, those who commented, those who even just read a few words. You all helped: if not with money, then with giving me motivation to continue, because believe it or not, I do get discouraged.
But with your help, this was a great success. I raised 1100 dollars. Donations, small and large, all added up to something amazing.
I will be doing something like this again, later in the year: we'll see if it's another Tournament like this, or if it's something I do on my own, that'll depend on the circumstances and everything I'm in. If the Tournament does run again, either way, I really hope that people contribute to it. Even a few dollars can make a huge difference. Sure, maybe "I can only spare a dollar, what does that matter?"
If a hundred people spare one dollar, it's a hundred dollar. Funny to hear me say this, but don't give in to apathy. You can and do make a difference, even with the smallest of donations, the smallest of gestures. Don't sell your value short.
Okay. Enough from me for now. I'll update more later.
Thank you again, to everyone.
Waah, congrats.

Thank you kindly. I was honestly very surprised, but I'm glad I got to do something good for once.

Thanks very much. I'm glad to hear you did, since I know it was uh. All over the place in the beginning and really took a dive at the end.
They misspelled your name on the Tournament of Canterlot main page!
But, hey, seriously, congrats on winning!
