Thing about new cover art again · 1:00am Dec 3rd, 2015

K, I was thinking, Since I add so much sketch art to this story anyway. Why not take a stab at doing some cover art myself.

Here's what I came up with.

vs. The current cover art.

Put in the sketch, or keep the current cover art?

I think the current art does a better job showing the premise.

Put in the sketch.

The current art is more in tune with the show and premise...

BUT THAT SKETCH LOOKS SO EPIC!

:applejackunsure: I... can't give you firm answer on that...:ajsleepy: Let's just say the sketch looks awesome and leave it at that.

hmm, 50 - 50 so far.

So Terry, what do you mean by "Shows the premise better"?

I know the sketch isn't in color, but I think it matches a lot of the art work I've posted later in the story.

Just trying to understand the reasoning.

3588356 It makes it obvious that she took over canterlot, because she's in a recognizable canterlot location from the show, and she and her guards are posing like Celestia and her guards should be. So you get the theme of Chrysalis being her replacement, and the parasprites point out that she has to face the challenges Celestia overcame instead.

The sketch at least shows that she captured Celestia, but she could be anywhere.

Lol, ya know, I could probably just post the Sketch in the Author's notes of Chapter 1 or 2... How about that?

Hmm true, that makes a lot of sense. The background in the current art certainly does a better job of that.

Thanks for the feed back! These blogs are useful for stuff :raritywink:

That would be AWESOME!:rainbowdetermined2:

Bouncing off of terrycloth. perhaps if the background of the sketch showed Celestia's throne the location would be clearly defined?

I have to go with the sketch.

keep current

....I like the new art work sketch but is it possible to color it?

3588887

I currently don't have access to my old Adobe programs (Located a few states away, at my friends place)... Otherwise I could color. It might turn out similar to that post with the "Boggy" Illustration. Except I would actually color the whole thing.

I might produce a colored one around Christmas time, because i'll be heading to my families place, and they'll have the said programs =)... that's a few weeks away though.

That answer you question?

New art. Doubly so, if colored.

3588892 Yes thank you.

3588892 I'd like next time you do this you put the link outside the image. I accidentally clicked to see and it interrupted my process of scrolling down.

And yes... if colored all of my yes.

3589358

Put the link outside the image? As in add a separate link next to the image?

3589402 The problem is that when one scrolls down images don't appear. You have to open the blogpost and be forced to go directly to the link of the image attached.

So yes.

Sorry, but given the choice between colour and grayscale, all else being equal, colour wins.
But you say you wish to colour it later?
Then later, I will probably prefer this new piece.

current but if the sketch gets colored it might get better than the current one. (it is a really nice sketch)

Wonderful. ^^ I like both but its your choice. :) I would just like to be colored. :P

But either way, wonderful work. ^.^
