Mission Accomplished! And what's next... · 8:55pm Dec 1st, 2015

After a slightly longer than brief respite, I'm back. With good news!

National Novel Writing Month (write 50,000 book words in 30 days)

I managed to meet my goal of writing 50k words on my Equestria Girls story over the month of November (EDIT: 50,116 in total). I wrote a little every day - anywhere between 200 and 3000 words depending on mood - and it wasn't easy. But to my surprise, it wasn't nightmarishly hard, either. I really enjoyed it! I got a tonne of practise with a new-ish style, and ended up with a novel worth of fanfic at the end of it. That said, I am absolutely knackered now, so I'll probably be quiet for the next few days

The story isn't complete - it's probably going to end up being closer to 100k than 50k, by the looks of things :applejackunsure: It's gonna be another long one. I'm debating whether to edit and publish chapter one right now, as that'll give me a bit more incentive to keep going with this and finish the story, rather than saying, "Month's over, into the vault you go." (Which is tempting :derpytongue2: ) Depending on how I feel, I'll put a chapter up this week and go from there.

Other Writing

While the above story is still going to be on my priorities list for writing, it's no longer the only thing on there. My 'A Slice Of Flutterdash' project will start up again with the Hearth's Warming chapter very soon. I've got another couple of projects to work on as well - including an, er, 'interesting' Twidash, which I never thought I'd write, but have started regardless. I don't know whether they'll see the light of day. We'll see.

I'm gonna try 'Fall Back' again after my Sunset novel is done. No promises, but I'm gonna try

Thank yous!

Finally, a quick thank you to those of you who've supported me this month: Victoria from the Swindon Writer's group for her pep talks, which kept me going when I got a bit shaky half-way through. And also to the group as a whole for inviting me in and making me feel welcome - you guys rock  Owen from the Swindon bronies and my co-host CK for getting me out of the house to think about something other than the novel. And to everyone on Twitter and on Facebook (and a couple of people here too!) who kept up the "You can do it!" chant.

Thanks, everyone! I look forward to having something to show you very soon :yay:

If it's alright with you, I'll pass on the TwiDash story. Oh, and btw, did the S5 finale give you any FlutterDash ideas? I mean, Starlight's situation is similar in many ways to stories about Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's foalhood. Personally, I've found myself intrigued by the new ship with her foalhood friend Sunburst.

3585052 It didn't give me any ideas on the first run through, but I'm going to be watching it a bunch more times, so I'm sure I'll come up with something. There were some very cool ideas in that episode. I'll definitely be on the lookout for Starlight x Sunburst stories now. Well, and any Starlight Glimmer stories, since that's something new!

Not to mention, despite no interaction between them, there was a lot of emphasis on Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's friendship, especially that shout out Applejack gave us in the King Sombra timeline. Here's the link to the thread I started on the subject.
