These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.
Yes. Glimmer might not be the best new character IMO right now, and her origin story was as generic as your average anvil, but things might change and I enjoy the show overall. Let's see how they write the next season. In the meantime, there's always fanfic to make me like Glimmer or something.

Someone said a better back story would have been Glimmers best friend had been Sunset Shimmer and she just dissappeared on her. Would have been a more interesting back story I think.

As for next season, I hope they play Starlight as a sassy, difficult student, the foil to how Twilight was almost desperately overeager to please. I mean, for all practical purposes, Starlight did go blow for blow with Twilight in raw magic, so there could be an aspect of "You really think you know better?" Having a more rebellious character would be a nice breath of fresh air for the series.
3578208 I don't expect to see her next season much. I kind of figure Glimmer will return to the Equality Village. To spread the Friendship is Magic philosophy. Probably will see her as often as we do Discord. Or go to Canterlot to find her old foal friend and then end up in a relationship.
Kind of expecting that she'll vanish to go and find the friend that abandoned her right near the start of season six. Much like Discord, she'll probably pop up now and again but not have much impact in a lot of episodes.

Do people really think that Starlight Glimmer is going to turn people off My Little Pony en mass? Even Scrappy Doo was not able to do that when he was introduced to Scooby Doo.

3578208 As I suggested on a sitepost, Starlight would make a great protege for Princess Luna.
Think about it. Twi's definitely Celestia's. Imagine Luna going through another petulant sulk because she scares ponies. She's not Nightmare Moon again, but what's her big damage, canonically? "The ponies abandoned her, scorning her presence because they wanted to go off and be with Celestia in the sun."
Cue Starlight Glimmer with big tearful quivery eyes, moved beyond all reason as it dead-centers HER own backstory and zings her right where she's most vulnerable.
Cue Starlight still being newly friendship-oriented, but glomming on to Luna like mad and becoming her very best awesomest protege. Except she's not used to the friendship thing, so Starlight and Luna can be bad influences on each other.
Could be awesome, and it's all established in canon. The main problem is, MLP doesn't work with extended character arcs, that's for US to do. But the idea of Starlight and Luna glomming on to each other is very, very obvious. Even their names telegraph it.
How about a fanfic where Twilight Sparkle teaches Starlight about object permanence?

3578149 I thought of Sunset as soon as she showed her friend. Heck, they even both have the whole Sun thing work their names! Add in the similarities with her and Sunset's reforms... and yeah. It would have been prefect.
Sadly, I expect we'll never see blatant EQG callbacks or references in the show.
I'm not going to lie, I stopped watching halfway through season four and I still stick around these parts because there's a hell of a lot of good writers.
I'll never get people like that. One bad character or one bad episode Doesn't Ruin a show forever. I'm not super fond of starlight or her "origin story" But that does not mean she's irredeemable, Nor that the show is ruined.
The writers may surprise us with where they take her character, I mean, It's not like they haven't surprised us before, and if not? Well we still have a whole show full of other awesome characters and with some of the stuff they did this season there is a whole new world of writing they can pull with the CMC, Luna, and some of the other background characters too.
TL;DR: I'm excited for S6

My philosophy to: Supernatural, Sonic the hedgehog, DC universe post New 52, ANY Power Rangers series I don't like (Megaforce, Overdrive), Saban's Masked Rider, any attempt to continue Gatchaman past the first series or to make up for that abysmal movie, Naruto, Star Trek Voyager, American Dragon Jake Long...ect ect.

I have to admit I am sad that my headcanon of Starlight Glimmer being the student before Sunset Shimmer got jossed, because I love the idea of Celestia having a long line of failed Twilight Sparkle themed students.
I'll still publish that story at some point.
