The very long future of Cape and Cowl · 8:54am Nov 29th, 2015
Right off the bat I just wanna say I got home a couple of hours ago from the Blind Guardian concert in Orlando and it was the most amazing fucking show I'll ever see! I'm still fansquealing all over the place!
Ahhem, moving on... (eeeee!)
No this is not one of those bad blog posts where I talk about some uncertain future - quite the opposite, really. Chapter Five of Showdown is nearing completion, and beyond that it's only a matter of time before this first trilogy is complete. I hope to have it finished by year's end, but we'll see.
Beyond that, (omg I can't believe I actually got to see Blind Guardian live!) there will be several more fics. My current count, not counting 1, Puppetmaster, and Showdown, is at 7. So 10 in total - although ideas between myself, Lithe, and Post Script are constantly cropping up. New characters come into our heads, some go away, each at such a pace that we've even created a list of these characters and who generally writes them (fun fact: the total number of OCs is reaching 40).
Now, looking ahead at the upcoming years (yes this series will take years) is all well and good, but sometimes we have to take a look back, as well. And I'll just get straight to it:
I really, really, want to completely and utterly re-write the first one. From the ground up. That's going to be a project I'll start working on tomorrow. The plot is certainly there, but there's a lot of things about it I... just... hate. I want to give it the proper justice it deserves, and I can now. Puppetmaster won't be touched, save for a couple of lines. But 1... yeah. Mostly it's because of Snow Storm's messy backstory and the mute angle which I tried and failed, but there are other things. I'll tag the updated chapters with 'Revised', to avoid as much confusion as possible.
One other thing, before I forget. This actually happened a while ago but I completely forgot to show it off to literally everyone because I'm an idiot. Possibly the very first fan of this series is one of my best buddies in the world, the incredibly talented Forest Rain. And a while ago, she painted (yes painted) for me the most awesome piece of fanart I will ever receive.
(She also made me some Snow Storm stickers after she made one to put on her very sexy guitar* and I was like wait can I have some stickers too plz)
By the way did I mention I saw Blind Guardian in concert tonight? It was magic.
*Forest's guitar is an ESP LTD EC-330 with dual-humbucker pickups and it sounds fucking incredible. (IBANEZ FOR LIFE) But it helps when there's an incredible person playing it.
Wow. That painting looks amazing. (Especially since it reminds me of hand drawn animation)
I'm glad to hear this series is going to be running for a long while. Snow Storm and Flynnt are my favorite characters so far, so seeing a lot of them is exciting.
