Thoughts on the Finale · 7:13pm Nov 28th, 2015
Perhaps it's because I've messed around in so many AU fic ideas, but I found the finale to be...
Now, it does have interesting potential, albeit potential I'm not interested in.
I think part of it is because of "If not X, then Y", or in this case the lack of it.
Because I'm really supposed to believe that without Twilight and Rainbow Dash, absolutely no powerful friendships would form between other ponies.
and there was no plan B.
Logically, they can't show it because that would probably undermine the message that Twilight and her friends are so important, and we can't get a two part Season Finale where Glimmer sabotages the Rainboom, only to find that she's replaced the Mane Six with...I don't know, Moondancer, Coco, Coloratura, Limestone, Lightning dust and Tree Hugger.
Hm.
There's an idea.
Still, the fact that we do get to see several bad futures, which are always interesting.
Rather glad the Changling bad future didn't look like the one I did in Across the Multiverse.
So, yeah.
Anyway, just taking a break on the stuff right now, finals, papers, you know.
Also, I don't know how active I'll be once the new year comes along:
I'm going to graduate school.
Twilight was the only pony looking for the Elements prior to Nightmare Moon's return so whatever the friendships were formed no one went looking for them. That's the reason the Elements weren't easily replaced, Otherwise there were several instances where they were close

There's, what, Ten+ year Gap between The Sonic Rainboom and the start of the series?
Unless it's been Retcon'd that Twilight has been looking for them ever since she was a filly, that's still a significant amount of time between Glimmer's attempted POD and the arrival.
Are we going to say that no one, not even Moondancer, who's basically a complete What if? for Twilight, would stumble upon the book and read up?
Or that no other pony would show the potential to become Celestia's student and learn about it?
