Thoughts on Season 5 finale... · 5:12pm Nov 28th, 2015
So, remember a time when Friendship is Magic was a kid's show for little girls? This two parter was intense. It was violent at certain points, scary in others, seeing the return of all of our favorite enemies was nice, and those alternate timelines are perfect fanfiction fodder.
Concerning Starlight Glimmer... did they just Sixth Ranger the hell out of her? I really think that they did.
1: She's even stronger than Twilight it seems, and they haven't explained that yet.
2: Like Twilight said, they can't afford to send her on her way as she has such raw power.
3: Having Starlight Glimmer on the team returns balance. In the beginning there were seven main characters: two unicorns, two pegasi, two earth ponies, and a dragon. When Twilight became an alicorn, the balance was broken with Rarity now being the sole unicorn in the Mane 6. With Starlight Glimmer, we now have EIGHT main characters, and balance is restored. Two unicorns (Rarity and Starlight), two pegasi (Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy), two earth ponies (Pinkie Pie and Applejack) and two characters that are "mythical" thus essentially immortal/long lived (Twilight and Spike).
So yeah... I think Starlight Glimmer just became their newest member. If so, I would not be upset.
Well said. I also thought little Starlight was cute.
I know. How about . . . DUNGEON. You know . . . for criminals? Which she is? Hello? Earth to Equestria . . . .
I have only one problem: the Alternate Universes all should be the same, because the order of the events can't change, an all out war between Nightmare Moon, Sombra and Chrysalis in totally chaotic world.

3574892 I didn't
He seems like the the typ who don't joins in, but rather "spice it up" while watching.
3574928 Fair enough.
Okay to me at first seeing her again was that she wasn't going to be redeemed but then as the episode progressed and got to the part where nothing living at all I thought this turned for the worst.
Then came Starlights background which was manageable for the most part. Then after twilight talked to her and convinced her to stop it made me put some faith back into Starlight. Which is great in my opinion. It would put an end to the series, but there is a season 6 coming out next year maybe. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of Starlight in the future to come cause in my book every villian (Unless it's Tirek, sombra and Chryisalis) can be redeemed in someway. tags tags for now.
....Long as she keeps her hooves off of Fluttershy for the first few appearances....we'll be good.
I'll just copy-paste what I put on the reddit thread
Just watched it. This honestly didn't sit well with me. I don't know what happened with the second half of the season, but it seemed like each episode was worse than the last for me personally. The first half was so good but the second half was so meh.
In terms of season endings this was my least favorite. S1 and S3 had better songs. S2 and S4 had better action/tension. Starlight glimmer and the way Twilight handled her was just so forced in my opinion. The entire time in my head i was screaming "just kill her!". I know they couldn't do that in a children's cartoon, but why didn't Twilight think of escalating measures? S2 ended with the banishment of the changelings? Why didn't twilight just do something to get her and starlight far away from the rainboom like teleport or end the spell early?
Twilight is an alicorn. She should just be able to stomp Starlight. All we get is the contrived reason "I can't stop her because reasons". Well then twilight you're a pretty aweful element of magic if you can't beat someone in a magic contest especially when you're supposedly on God Tier of power now. Starlight just had the problem superman/goku has: she is a mary sue. It's just super frustrating and takes me out of the story when a person is powerful for the sake of being powerful.
It seems to me with both Friendship games and this episodes its like Twilight is stepping back and taking a lesser role in a way. Tinfoil hat time: does this mean Tara Strong is stepping back? Is hasbro making an insurance against main voice actors not returning like Marvel did with RDJ in Ironman 2 with the addition of Don Cheadle? It has been a long time of her voicing Twilight Sparkle? Just crazy theories
