Why Do I Even... · 2:48pm Aug 10th, 2012
I've been working on rewrites. Honestly, I have. But, on top of the fact that I'll probably never be fully content with what I've written so far, and that they've come out with an official map of Equestria, and that I'm a perfectionist at heart, I've decided to go back for rewrite round three. It's come to the point where I truly wonder if I will ever write new content anytime soon. Trust me, I will write it eventually, but I just feel that this story is missing something.
Some people tell me I've been rambling through these few chapters, that things happen too suddenly, that I'm messing with the Fallout: Equestria canon, etc., and it's getting to me. While I'm glad that I've been able to stick with a story this far, I'm not going to be truly proud of this story until I get everything well-paced and truly sorted out, and not so in-your-face, etc. whatever I need to fix.
I've put the story on hiatus until further notice. If you really want to see this story back up soon, I wouldn't mind the help of an editor. I asked for people to give feedback about any little quirks they see in my writing, but they haven't, and when I get someone that does, it all just kind of piles up on me. So, if you feel like bashing parts of this story that you didn't like, feel free to start from Chapter One and keep going. Until then, goodbye.
The funny thing with cannon is that you can mess with it and add to it as long as it's subtle and doesn't interrupt the flow of the original. What somber did was not a good example of this. Some liked it some didn't. I thought it was interesting but only because it was somewhat original, but in the end I saw it as a grab for attention by directly involving the original. I'm going to go over your chapters today because I finally got some much needed sleep, for now my advice is to drop the Fallout game elements. Think about only the setting and the tone the game has and you can throw little references to the game in the dialogue between characters as nods to the Fallout fans. What I'm trying to say is be original. Take story elements from the game but give them a new twist. Don't worry we'll have that fic out of hiatus soon.
I appreciate the help, Aeron. Sadly, this weekend, I will not be able to work on the story. Weekends never work well for me. I will think about this, though.
