It's friggin' everywhere! · 11:53pm Aug 9th, 2012
Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person who doesn't like reading stories about shipping or crossovers. It's a real impediment to looking at fan fiction. It seems like every story has one or the other...or worse, both.
Shipping I can understand, though I'm not into. Crossovers are just weird to me. You have the whole open fantasy world of Equestria to run around in. What's the need to bring Link or Naruto or whatever into it.
If it wasn't so pervasive I wouldn't think twice about it, but it seems like every other story is a crossover.
I know the feeling about Crossovers, man - It just doesn't make sense why you have to bring another show/game/story into the already massive potential of Equestria itself.
It's worse when the shippage is the end game i.e. the whole point of the story. I can't stand simple love stories.
I seek to overcome this with a greater tale.
278677 I don't know. I hate to feel this way, but it just seems lazy to me. It's like putting super hot chicks in a music video. Of course it will get views, even if it sucks. Crossover stories aren't quite that bad, but that extra name brand is likely to get some clicks. I just feel like you could tell the same story in Equestria with all the characters we've been given.
278679 I can take a love story in a move or book or whatever, but it had better be REALLY, REALLY GOOD. It's definitely the least interesting thing for me to consume as media so if it's not really well done, I lose my interest almost immediately. I always shake my head when I'm at the office and I walk by someone who is listening to a love song channel on the radio. Seriously, who wants to listen to songs about the same topic ALL DAY?! There is only so much to say about it!
D'oh! I didn't put a question mark in there. Stupid grammar-ignoring brain...

I know!
My apprach to love is to make it revolutionary and meaningful...y'know... make it have an impact that goes beyond the two lovers in involved.
