I won't lie, I'm a bit disappointed in what marks the CMC got in "Crusaders of the Lost Mark".
I know it's a silly thing to have wanted, but I was hoping for those G3 inspired marks that they got in early advertising.
Ironically, I don't think the reasoning behind their marks would have been any different. Those G3 marks looked like Cutie Marks in friendship (they are all hearts, after all).
Well, in honor of what could of been - and isn't. I will post the marks from the Chocolote Popcorn recipe (the marks I was wishing for) here for posterity.

Still, a butterfly for Scootaloo... what exactly was that supposed to mean? Best I ever came up with was smashing butterflies and from the day she got that mark on she and Fluttershy would have issues. Some say it was supposed to have something to do with dancing, which she displayed a mild interest in one time in one episode and it never got developed more than her love of speed, but I never got that. She loves her scooter, she loves her friends and she loves Rainbow Dash. None of that says butterfly.
3464039 You have a good point, and I can't really think of any meaning that is a strong fit in G4 canon.
However, I always imagined that a butterfly Cutie Mark would have one of the following meanings:
1) It's a mark in gentleness and Animal Caretaking (Fluttershy's mark.)
2) It's a mark in etymology (That's more G3 Scootaloo, and less G4 Scootaloo... A.K.A that bug catching Cutie Mark.)
3) It's a mark in graceful but weak flying (Butterflies don't fly high, but they look beautiful doing it)... I suspect this mark would be more of an insult to get than anything else (It's almost like tattooing an inability to fly on her flank for life).
4) It's a day dreaming Cutie Mark. (this feels a lot like 3, only less flying).
5) It's a friendship Cutie Mark - more of a box set with the rest of the CMC than a mark of one's individuality.
