I'm giggling like a maniac.

I'm actually laughing at how hard season 5 has so far broken my first pony fic, In the Broad Daylight. Given it's always expected that the show will eventually ruin the fan fiction, but I'm actually having giggle fits how much is now wrong what was once just up to speculations.

This might go into spoiler territory for some so here is my usual warning sign:

I honestly wrote the story assuming that Filthy Rich was single and Gilda was still living within Equestria's borders. Probably a little foolish but for me it served the story I was writing at the time with what little info I had at the time. After all when it was originally written we were only finished with season 2.

Even so I'm hoping that I kept things vague enough about Diamond Tiara that today's episode didn't completely break it. After all I never said her mother was dead, though I kinda implied Filthy RIch was a widower and that scene in the story when Diamond Tiara laments over her broken tiara could be read completely differently now. She isn't just sad Snow Heart broke it, she's afraid of her mother's reaction who is um.... totally on some sort of a business trip and the news of the kidnapping of her daughter just hasn't reached her... um yeah... that's sounds about right.

Seriously though I loved today's episode and almost want to rewrite the story to have Diamond Tiara actually be glad to be kidnapped because now she isn't with her overbearing mother, causing Snow Heart no end of confusion, heck it could have been a triple revenge, I could definitely see Snow Heart being also driven to anger by Spoiled Rich.

However I shan't rewrite it and just accept that sometimes shows steam roll over the fanon. However I still might do some re-edits of the story in the near future, not necessarily to shoehorn in new canon info but I definitely think some of those chapters could use a little retouch (especially that chapter where the police ponies aren't even named)
