Possibly the best episode of the entire series.
What a 5th Birthday for this show.
Marks might take a bit getting used to design wise. But Glad they carried on with what they did with Troubleshoes. Their talents are helping ponies actually use their marks for the better and to help them understand them. Was great episode.
Well, they finally got them. What now?
A musical episode that worked really really well!
-Pipsqueak accent. I loved listening to it.
-Silver Spoon had a "I'm tired of dealing with your crap" moment
-Character depth and redemption of Diamond Tiara
-CMC Cutie Marks

Now I have to pick between this and Amending Fences for #1 Episode.
Fillies and Gentlecolts, it's been a while. It's been a long time coming but here we are. The Crusade is the Talent. The one talent that few if any of us thought to look out for, even though it's been hinted at a lot. The marks even suit the talent - Knight-Champions of Harmony. I wonder if the Princess of Friendship has any special duty for them now in her Kingdom?
Well, what can I say. I saw it coming as far back as Apploosia's Most Wanted but didn't want to see it: The girls' True Talent is to help others find the True Talent. In fact, I would argue that it was signposted back in One Bad Apple! It was a nice little bit of lateral thinking from the scriptwriters and neatly side-stepped all the butthurt that would happen if someone in the fandom had been predicting it for years (leading to cries of "PANDA!")
This was a nice little musical episode that made Diamond Tiara a surprisingly sympathetic character with the show coming as close to admitting to the existence of parental emotional abuse as it is ever likely to get. Furthermore, it did a nice job at reminding us how subtle cutie marks can actually get.

As awesome as it was the cutie marks themselves were a bit underwhelming however still a nice touch. The episode itself was fantastic though, the musical aspect of it was well done and the songs were fantastic as always! Not to mention the fact that we also got a redeemed Diamond Tiara in the mix of it all!
My only concern though is that with this happening and the reformation of all the villains/antagonists that can only be leading to the movie and next season coming out presumably next year to potentially be the last one. Not sure if ready for that

Oh believe me! The Crusade is far from over!
Say goodbye to over 1,000 head canons. This episode sank a lot of theories and outcomes ranging from Diamond's mom dying or divorcing, to the CMC's cutie marks. Also, I don't think anyone saw the CMC's actual marks coming.

3457425 I think it was amazing, better than each other episode aside Canterlot Wedding. Canterlot Wedding was as good.
The thing is that the marks introduce two colours that weren't on the chara on the first place and make the design a bit over-colourised. Not evryone can be Rainbow Dash. (all puns intended)
I'm honestly not sure how I felt about this episode; Diamond Tiara's mentality being a result of her upbringing is pretty constant with real-life, but to me it came off as a bandaid for making her a tragic villain. That's been happening much too often in Television and movies these days.
As for the talents, I'm not sure helping others find their talents makes me feel like the journey of self-discovery is really complete. Like Littlepip said in Fallout: Equestria, "It's like having a cutie make of a cutie mark..."
I have to admit, the songs did work well...but I feel Sweetie should have had a musical note on her shield instead.

I expected this to be a nice little filler episode...now I'm a complete mess, holy crap, didn't expect a masterpiece like this!!! And Aj's line, "If mom and dad were here" That's it. I lost it there. This is the first time I've ever cried at an mlp episode, best of the season, hooves down!

I just cried happy manly tears after the ep. I'll give it a careful 20/10, but I might have to increase the score after a re-watch. Gotta love how their true marks were teased with Troubleshoes. I didn't expect them to go into that direction, but I'm damn happy they did. Now they get to keep their hobbies and likes without them being bound to just them.
It's a happy Ponyversary.

I had kind of resigned myself to yet another CMC episode with no marks as none of the girls were really individually standing out as the one who would receive the mark for helping Diamond Tiara, and then the ending happened.
11/10, would feel the feelings again.

Everyone is freaking out about the Crusaders having Cutie Marks, yet no comments on Applejacks comment how "Mom and Dad would have been so proud" comment? Also, no Scootaparent seen at the Party.

Um... She did. Scootaloo's shield had an awesome lightning bolt and Applebloom's an apple.
If it weren't for Sweetie's musical note, they could have simply been marks of their affiliation with their big sisters. However, I suspect that they're actually indicators of unique sub-talents or mind-sets that inform their approach to helping others. Scootaloo is the daring, fearless one, Applebloom comes from the direction of wholesome family and constructive approaches and Sweetie from the direction of raw harmony, both musical and psychological (she's shown 'management' talents before, most notably in Twilight Time).
Holy crap, this episode tho!
That was kind of amazing. Way to throw me for a loop twice, at first I thought it was going to be about Silver Spoon parting ways with Diamond Tiara, and then when it turned it was DT's redemption episode, I thought it was over once she had come around.
Then that ending happened. This gif was my exact reaction.

We've had confirmation on that since Apple Family Reunion. Two shooting stars when AJ was thinking about the rest of the family pretty much confirmed they're dead.
But about Diamond Tiara.
I can't be the only one who drew parallels between her and Pacifica Northwest from Gravity Falls when her home situation was revealed, right? ...Right?

Not really a bandaid.
The way Diamond Tiara had been acting throughout the series in a way felt off. Felt more excessive than spoiled rich brat and making a child as a "she's just a natural ass with no redeeming qualities" felt wrong for someone her age. Even moreso considering Filthy Rich wasn't a bad person either.
Making her mother the source was quite decent.
Actually, when we get decent HD screenshots of the episode, I'm going to be looking very closely at the girls' cutie marks because I've got a strong sense that there are going to be indicators of individual 'secondary' talents in them.
I cried.

It's not really much more than we already knew. We knew that they're never around, so the possibilities were basically dead, coma, missing, in jail (lol), or overseas for a long time. We know now for sure that they're not in contact, but that's about it.
Apple Bloom has a heart within an apple within a shield.
Scootaloo has a lightning bolt within a wing within a shield.
Sweetie Belle has a music note within a star within a shield.
Well, there goes my "All unicorns show their special magic talent when getting their CM, like Rarity's gemfinding and Twilight's godmode"-theory.
