In Regards To Updates · 2:46pm Oct 10th, 2015

I don't normally post update blogs, since more often than not I end up making them sound like I'm whining and complaining, but I feel this one is warranted right now.

To start, I'm still flabbergasted that so many people enjoy Sunset's Little Twilight so much. Now I wish I'd picked a better title, but that's besides the point. As is to be expected, I've had a few people clamouring for the next update, which I had originally intended to have by the end of September.

Unfortunately, September was the month in which the dreaded "Real Life" decided to beat me over the head with a croquet mallet. Repeatedly. It's only recently that I've managed to drag myself out of the metaphorical muck and start making headway, made more difficult now that I'm finally working full-time. I've always said that real life commitments trump personal entertainment, so SLT's already sporadic update schedule will likely become even more drawn out. All I can promise right now is that I'll have something concrete before the year is out, so all I can ask for is your patience.

And now for the main reason I decided to make this blog post. I know I'm not the first person so say this, nor will I be the last, but I'm going to repeat it anyway. Just let me get my soapbox ready...

Ahem...

Please do NOT hound me for when the next update will be. Mentioning in the comments you hope for an update is harmless, but when you repeatedly PM me with the sole purpose of going "When's the next's update?" and "What's taking so long?", not only are you being more than a little rude, but you only annoy me and disrupt my writing as it is. Should anyone PM me in the future with such inquiries, I will not reply because the answer will be the same:

I will update when, and only when, I am done. That involves writing, self-editing, rewriting if necessary and waiting until every one of my editors has had a chance to rip it to shreds and left me to put it back together before adding a final coat of polish. I'd rather put out a single quality chapter every few months, than multiple pieces of crap.

I'm pretty sure George R.R Martin has said on record that he does not like it when you point out how slow a writer he is, Linkara gets more than a little ticked off when people legitimately hunt him down to ask when the next History of Power Rangers is (despite the fact that he already has a huge workload and has said more than once that it previously had no set schedule) and almost every person who has ever produced FREE media for the internet do not enjoy this kind of behaviour.

Why can't I like a blog post?

Regarding Linkara, he's actually put HoPR onto a somewhat loose schedule. His promised review of Power Rangers Samurai came during summer, and he's said that the Megaforce review will occur around Christmas.

Anyway, I understand the sentiment. While I don't get hounded for updates to my stories, I can see how it would be bothersome. Take all the time you need, mein freund.

Take your time. I honestly respect you for putting some weight to quality despite people hounding you for more chapters. Finding even a half-way decent slice-of-life fic is becoming more and more of a chore for me and yours has so far been far above mere half-way decent in quality. Your attitude is actually putting my mind at ease for at least one story. Far too many have turned stories with a promising start into third rate badly written action fics. I would rather you write something you can be proud off than cave in to demands more words faster.

Keep up the good work.

Holy cow, they PM you to demand you update your fan side-project?!
That's crossing a line!
