The Weed is turning 100 · 1:35pm Oct 8th, 2015
It's been a long, wonderful, sometimes strange, sometimes beautiful trip. I accidentally another epic. Chapter 100 should be out sometime today.
I've learned a lot from writing The Chase, and it shows in The Weed. The story feels tighter, especially at the beginning, and the world building is a lot less intrusive. It's been a lot of work... and the most amazing thing... I've done very little planning for The Weed. I've been writing it mostly on the fly. I have destinations in mind, but the journey just sort of flows on its own.
It's been an amazing experience. I've learned a lot and I'm really happy that the story has touched others.
I'd like to keep writing it, but to do that, I might need some help.

Well it's certainly become a strange yet wonderful journey. The approach you've had in writing it also sounds similar to the way I've been writing. Major points keeping you on a general path but otherwise getting surprised by things that pop up along the way.
Might be interesting to have Maud and Tarnish end up around the alkali flats again and Maud gets to meet Buttons. Perhaps they stumble across a foal that wouldn't survive on their own in the wild, look after them for a time, then find the parents by chance. Flamingo for some reason experiences PMS for a few days? The Princesses secretly start (maybe already have) guiding the pair to places they can do the most good, both by direct presence such as rescuing Grey Owl, and by indirect example inspiring other ponies to step out of their comfort zones and into the world at large. You have a large opening for them to run into Daring Do at some point and they all go do things for reasons with results. Hmm...Maud debating something with Ahuizhotal that he's being dumb on, or is taking too serious. Or captures Maud and starts trying to convince her to act like the damsel in distress she's supposed to be, eventually so wrapped up in trying to get a reaction out of her he doesn't notice Daring Do and Tarnish having sat down nearby to watch the show, having already foiled the whole plan and captured Ahui's minions, knowing Maud could just snap her restraints with her freakish earth pony strength and is just screwing with Ahui the whole time...
Oh I could sit and envision possibilities for days about Maud and Tarnish off on adventures. To say nothing of thaumaturgical revelations they should be finding when they make close studies of locations like the Crack of Doom.
The story tickles my imaginationizer. I look forward to another 100 chapters with glee.

You do become increasingly better all the time. And you'll likely get even better in the future.
